I think I’ve finally managed to come up with an adequate comparison to illustrate the depth of my disappointment with the second season of Game of Thrones ( Read more... )

I KNOW RIGHT?!? I, for one, would really like it if Daenerys could stop peeing all over the carpet.

I can't tell how much of my disgust at what's going on in Qarth is the horribly ill-conceived changes the tv writers have made, and how much of it is that Emilia Clarke has no acting range whatsoever... or if Daenerys was always this petty, imperious, obnoxious, and whingy, and I just didn't notice it until A Dance With Dragons.

But the Jaime thing is unforgivable. He's arrogant and self-important, sure, but murdering his own cousin for... a distraction? Really? And having the escape attempt of his own instead of being orchestrated by Tyrion makes the main protagonist look like a schmuck, for being willing to let his brother rot in prison while he wipes Cersei's bum for her. Gaaaah.

i can't watch any of the Qarth stuff now. It is such a mess.

I am not sure if it is Emilia Clarke's acting or their writing for her, to be honest. I am not impressed by her, that's for sure, but it could be down to how they are writing her.

Jaime...I am not so upset by that, but I can see why some would be. I didn't quite like how that scene came out, though.

I think the reaction to Jaime's scene is about how much an individual loves the Lannister Boys.

Qarth, though..... Dear god. Just... Mindboggling.

And by killing Irri off, HBO robbed itself of future (canon) lesbian sex scene potential. It's like they're not even thinking about what they're doing anymore, screwing themselves out of HBOification.

I've just decided to view it as something completely separate and just very very loosely related. It's still just really confusing to wait for a scene and then get something completely different. I found myself trying to puzzle out Jon's, Jaime's, Cat's, Arya's and Sansa's storyline after the last episode and just gave up. Dany is like a different story completely so I'm not even counting that, it's so far out the left field.
