I kind of feel sorry for those people, but then again at least they have the option of taking the metro. Metro doesn't exist in Seattle. It's the car or the bus. And if you work in DC that tells me you make a very comfortable living and probably have a lot of power over my life (legislative staff, lobbyist, regulator).
haha Well the metro is pretty much SHIT though. Its decent as far as transportation goes...except that the transportation to go from one point in the east to one point in the west involves a U shaped trip south and then north again. Which doesnt make much sense. No grid'esque trains here!
Plus, they break down all the fucking time!
It just drives me bonkers in the morning when people dont move to the middle of the car and crowd the doorways. Assholes. lol.
I think what would suck most is trying to get on at Dupont Circle and it being friggin' packed from everyone who got on since all the way back to Shady Grove. You'd pretty much be guaranteed not to get a seat.
Do they also have good bus service so you could get off on one part of the U and cut across instead of riding the Metro those extra miles?
The bus service is rather decent, however with DC traffic being the way it is...it tends to take longer (in rush hour anyway...other times its more reliable).
As far as getting on and it being packed...that happens on every line regardless of where its coming from if you're going to board within the District borders. lol. However I HATE the way they have the cars set up! I wish they were more like subway cars in New York, with the seats lining the walls instead of crowding the middle like they do. It would fit a shitload more people if it were like that and it would be a far more comfortable ride. I dont mind standing...I DO mind that when I do what you're supposed to do and move to the center of the car away from the doors...and someone decides they're getting off at the next stop...I have to figure out how the fuck to get them through without falling over. This would EASILY be remedied by changing the cars to imitate NYC cars.
