Christmas Lights

Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be more Christmas/holiday lights this year? Noel and I did a drive around a nearby neighborhood and it felt like there were more houses decorated than last year. I guess everyone needs a little more jolly this year - whatever form that jolly takes.

Speaking of jolly, I'm making Christmas cookies this year ( Read more... )

I am 100% convinced that people are "able" to put more work into Christmas decorating/cookies than other years because of COVID and WFH and needing distractions and stuff. I remember reading/hearing somewhere that while a lot of industries are down, ones like INTERIOR DECORATING and renovating have experienced a boost because people are stuck at home and are like I FUCKING HATE THIS WALL and actually doing stuff about it lol.

Awwwww I LOVE the idea of neighbor-cookies, but also I really enjoy not engaging with them hahaha.

hahahahah THOSE WHO ARE WRONG AND DON'T LIKE EGG NOG preach gurl preach

My cookies turned out AWFUL! I have no idea how I fucked them up, but I did! I'm going to try again this coming week and deliver NYE Cookies if they are any better.

OH BUT ALSO. I'm not sure if your area is doing it, but mine literally created a map of houses with decorations/lights that people were able to add to and they called it like the lights tour or something. It probs helped that there was that kind of community encouragement/competition (even if there was no real prize LOL)

Yes! One of the few things that Nextdoor in our area is actually useful for is the treat maps and light maps!

"It probs helped that there was that kind of community encouragement/competition (even if there was no real prize LOL)" -- LOL this is amazing. I need a hallmark movie with this as a subplot STAT

Seconding what Christa said, people probably have more time to put their decorations up. And I know quite a few who used the extended time at home to finally do some work at home they had been putting off^^

That's a lovely idea with the neighbor cookies, though I have to admit, I am a wrong person cause I do not care for egg nog, I hope you can forgive meXD

I am so proud that I managed to not burn my cookies! They were just chocolate chip for extremely lazy people, the kind that you don't even have to break apart yourself...they are literally already separated. My dumb oven is not very cooperative and fluctuates temperature a LOT, so cookies are usually too delicate!

Ovens can be so fickle! I'm glad yours worked out. Mine... well. They did not work out lol.
