Fantastic point re: war/military. The age is 18 here in Australia... to be honest people still drink underage... I was getting drunk occasionally at age 16/17 'cos it was this rebellious thing to do so I dont think it will stop people sneaking around at a young age... but 21 just seems insane to start drinking legally. I got the drinking/partying thing out of my system by age 20 and now I'm (sometimes lol) ready to be a grown up.

i definitely agree that kids will still sneak around, but that just makes the 21 age all the more ridiculous. it's not acting as a deterrent to sneaking around, so why keep it so high?

silly United States. we're just over run with ridiculous laws. did you know it's illegal to park you elephant at a street meter? not only is this law dumb, it's also ridiculously inconvenient.

I agree completely. I've always thought the age in the States was super high. Here in Ontario it's 19, which isn't bad at all -- but like Katie said above: in Manitoba, Alberta & Québec it's only 18. No matter what the legal age is, kids are going to drink... so you might as well make it legal at a sensible age.

I totally agree with you. Drinking age in Canada is 19 which is not bad, but I'm always in the US and I feel SO YOUNG because I can't order or a glass of wine with dinner. If kids can go off to war at 18, they should be allowed to drink at 18, end of story. If the government deems you responsible enough to handle a weapon and fight for your country, I'm pretty sure you're responsible enough to drink ( ... )
