No.6 Anime Review

Sep 16, 2011 22:34

It'd be hard for me to review the No.6 anime as a standalone series. I'm invested enough in the novels that my mind automatically recalls all the corresponding scenes from the books when I watch the anime, so I can't help but compare the two. And so I'm not going to try to review this as a standalone series, I'll be judging it as an adaptation. ( Read more... )

Eve was only ever mentioned in the novels as Nezumi's stage name. Nezumi's job was never described in detail and Shion never went to see him either (episode 5 was almost entirely anime original). Hell, it was barely even hinted that he cross dresses. They did show that a lot of Nezumi's fans were male, said he had a pretty face, Rikiga called him a vixen, and he does talk in a female/gender ambiguous voice a lot... well, I suppose those are hints enough, but the novels never said anything outright.

I'm interested to see what the manga does with Eve, and how much it will be influenced by the anime on these sorts of things. On the one hand, it seems like a rip-off to have a visual depiction of the story and not show Nezumi working as Eve; on the other, the manga has been sticking closer to the novels on most points, which is mostly for the best. Personally, I hope that they do work it in, but not necessarily in the same way (or even in a way that Shion is present for).

On a separate note, I consider the anime's existence worthwhile if for nothing other than toi8's art.

Hmm, it would be nice if the manga showed Eve in one way or another. It wasn't too important to the plot other than Shion going "he can control his emotions so well, as expected of an actor!", but on the other hand... Eve. Hopefully he'll at least make a cameo appearance or something.

toi8 is god.

I was frustrated by the fact that Bones had no idea how to end the series better. Then we get the kiss at the end which I feel was a way of saying "The fangirls are waiting for this anyways. Hopefully they won't notice the clusterfuck this episode was." I was not particularly happy about episode 11 (understatement). I think I'll just read the novels for my fulfillment.

I wasn't familiar with toi8 before, but I immediately fell in love with their style~ It has this sketchy feeling that's pleasure to look at and it' so so beautiful~ X3

Yep, those drama CDs. Curious as hell what they'll pull on us. If I remember right, the first one is "before Shion and Nezumi met" kind of thing, I'm guessing more Safu & Shion stuff... Well, we'll find out soon I guess?

Yes, I love toi8's art so much. <3 And I love him for giving us idoru Eve-chan キラッ☆ /shot

I was wondering about that "before they met" thing. Is there really anything interesting to tell about before they met...? Can't be about Nezumi because of his past and all, so it'd have to be Shion/Safu/etc. I'm hoping it's actually "before they met for the second time" and shows Shion's and Nezumi's thoughts during the 4 year timeskip, because I would love that.

Oooo Drama CDs *_* I was thinking whether they would give us a 0.5 eps or smth like that but that would be just confusing? haha

My issues with the ending truepurple September 21 2011, 09:44:51 UTC
It seemed to me that this anime had alot of potential. To explore forgiveness, perception, happiness in life, and so on, that it failed to live up to. Not read the novel, I assume it fulfilled this much better, especially judging by your words ( ... )
