Woot, back! This time with a Clemence Poesy icon tutorial, for the following icon:
It was made using PSP9, but should be translateable to other programs.
1. I started out with
this picture from Fleur-Delacour.Com. I ended up rotating it ten degrees to the left before cropping, resizing, sharpening, smoothing, etc.
As you can see, not exactly pretty.
2. I then duplicated the base and set it to Screen at 100% opacity.
3. Then, using a technique I learned from
__sugarkisses__, I created a new raster layer, filled it with #faeccc, and set it to Multiply at 100% opacity.
4. Next, I copied the whole image (Edit > Copy Merged, or Shift + Ctrl + C) and pasted it as a new layer, setting it to Soft Light at 100% opacity.
5. There, much better! But I was trying to get the look of some of
blimey_icons' more recent icons, so I created a new layer, filled it with #aee9e5, and set it to Burn at 100% opacity.
6. Once again, I copied the whole image and pasted it as a new layer, setting it to Screen at 50% opacity.
7. Next I took a green color, #6c9312, and set it to Burn at at 26% opacity. Not 25%, but 26%. :P
8. Still trying to go for the
blimey_icons look (and failing miserably), I took a brush from
Hybrid Genesis, rotated it 90 degrees, and slapped it on the right edge of the icon in #f49b00, setting it to Overlay at 100% opacity. It doesn't do much, but it adds some nice texture.
-->
9. I felt like this might be too bright, so I went back to my base layer, duplicated it, dragged it to the top, and set it to Soft Light at 100% opacity.
10. And finally, I created a new vector layer and typed 'cp' in white, Cooper Black, size 18, kerning 0; after rotating it a little bit, I was done!
Woot! =DDD
