even before the stage is set
she brings out her purple lorgnette
to peer at the crew erecting the stage
like sullen monkeys caught in a cage
they scamper quckly from here to there
as if scurrying in some mortal fear
but at last its finished, within and without
the curtain is lowered, the lights go out
