more rambling about comics
So, the first thing that struck me was that whoever wrote the summary page could use a copy-editor.
I mean, for me it is not that hard to remember how Rikki's name is spelled. Other people, I cut a break because there are about eighty kajillion ways "Rikki" could be phonetically spelled.
But come on. In her own book, you'd think someone would catch that her name isn't Ricki Barnes. >:|
But besides, that, this issue was pretty good.
I would have loved to see Sam stick around a bit longer, but there was a lot of stuff happening this issue, so I suppose I can forgive that he only got couple of panels.
So I've got to wonder where they're going with John? Is it a law of the Marvel Universe that all John Barnes must be or become massive tools? I haven't really decided if I like the direction they're taking him. On the one hand, evil-joining-cults-again-John is good drama. On the other hand, I think it would have been just as interesting to see how they both dealt with their respective alternate universe siblings and junk. Of course, there is the possibility of redemption for John, so we shall just wait and see.
The Desmond Daniels plot has me curious- is there seriously a cult that gives a damn about student body president elections? Really? I can't wait to hear the reasoning behind that one.
Also, I sort of totally love Flag Smasher, in a "I enjoy seeing your butt get kicked by teenagers" sort of way. I would buy a comic that was just about him, getting beat on by teenaged superheroes and then going home and eating a tub of chocolate ice cream out of sheer depression. Maybe that's just me, though.
I'm really liking the art, too. The faces are just the best ~<3. And I really like the new costume too (and am sort of glad the cape is not included. I really like the way Baldeon draws Rikki's fight scenes. I feel like a cape would just detract from the movement in them.)
So yeah. I will be eagerly awaiting next month's installment (still more excited for Decembers, though. Team-up with the Young Avengers adftgvfdsh YES).
And I am totally asking for a paid account plus icon spaces for Christmas for Rikki's account. Her faces are just so amazing.
