Chapter One: Secrets
The members of Beast laughed happily as they exited the building where the concert had taken place. They were all chatting when, out of nowhere, Hyunseung squealed.
“Did you watch the concert?” he asked excitedly, approaching his boyfriend.
“I did. You looked amazing up there,” Sang Ki replied. He wrapped an arm around Hyunseung’s waist and gave him a peck on the cheek.

“Do you want to celebrate with us?” Doojoon asked politely.
“I was sort of hoping to steal Hyunnie for tonight,” Sang Ki answered. Hyunseung looked at Doojoon and their band mates. They all smiled and nodded. Hyunseung smiled back.
“Have him out until whenever. We have the day off tomorrow.”
Sang Ki smiled. “Thanks. I appreciate that, Doojoon.”
He pulled Hyunseung with him as he left. Yoseob noticed Junhyung staring after them. He nudged his friend, startling him a little.
“Are you alright, hyung?” Yoseob asked him, worriedly.
“I’m alright, Seobbie,” Junhyung responded, his eyes never straying from Hyunseung’s and Sang Ki’s backs. After they climbed into Sang Ki’s car, Junhyung finally looked at Yoseob. “What?”
The blond shook his head. “Nothing, hyung, let’s catch up with the others.”
He grabbed Junhyung’s hand, towing him toward their other friends. Junhyung didn’t allow himself to look back, telling himself the car would be gone already. He forced a small smile on his lips while they walked home to their apartment.
Doojoon switched on the lamp as the other four entered the room. Kikwang closed the door, locking the deadbolt.
“Anyone hungry?” Yoseob asked, skipping into the kitchen.
“I’m starving,” Dongwoon replied. He grabbed Kikwang’s hand and reached out, linking his fingers with Doojoon’s. “To the kitchen!” He pulled his hyungs with him.
After they sat down at the table, Dongwoon went to fetch his other hyung. Junhyung was stretched out on the couch, the television muted, his hat pulled down over his eyes. His glasses were in his hands, resting lightly on his chest. Dongwoon rolled his eyes.
“Hyung, you’re going to end up breaking these,” he chuckled. He carefully slid the glasses out of Junhyung’s hands and put them on the end table. He returned to the kitchen.
“Where’s Junhyung?” Doojoon asked.
“He was already asleep,” Dongwoon explained.
“What shall we eat?” Yoseob asked, tying an apron around his waist. “Pizza, pasta, ramen, salad, kimchi?”
“Ramen is a pasta,” Kikwang said.
“Is not!”
“Yes, it is.”
“No, it’s not!”
“Yes, Seobbie, it is!”
The two of them argued for about ten minutes. Doojoon was about to yell at them for being too loud when Junhyung’s cell phone rang. The kitchen went silent.
“Hello?” Junhyung grumbled. After a slight pause, he sat up and pulled his hat off his eyes. “Yeah. We’re all still up. Yeah, sure. See you in a few.”
Junhyung patted the couch in search of his glasses. After Dongwoon told him they were on the end table, he walked to the door. Without saying a word, he left.
“What was that about?” Kikwang asked. They all shrugged, going back to what they were going to eat.

Junhyung pulled to a stop, waiting impatiently for the light to turn so he could go. Hyunseung had called saying he needed a ride home. So, naturally, Junhyung grabbed his keys and rushed out the door.
He sighed, mentally scolding himself. He knew better than to rush out like that. The light changed and he sped off to where he always picked his friend up. He pulled up to the curb, smiling at Hyunseung sitting on the bench where he always waited.
“Hey,” Junhyung said, sitting next to him. He forced himself to not smile.
“Hi, Junnie,” Hyunseung replied, kissing his cheek. He placed his head on Junhyung’s shoulder, giggling.
“Are you drunk?” Junhyung looked at Hyunseung. Big mistake, he thought a moment too late. He felt Hyunseung’s lips on his own. Junhyung tried to push his friend away, with no luck. Hyunseung grabbed his wrist and pulled him closer. Hyunseung smiled, pulling away.
“Can I sleep with you tonight?” he asked.
“No.” Junhyung put a little space between them. “You’re drunk.” He sighed when Hyunseung pouted. “Let me get you home.”
Junhyung helped Hyunseung into the passenger seat, buckling him in. He shook his head before getting behind the wheel. He fastened his seatbelt before turning the engine on. He drove toward their apartment, trying to forget what happened.
“When we get home, you’re going straight to your bed. You’ll probably have a hangover. You don’t usually drink.”
“Are you upset with me for something?” Hyunseung asked, taking hold of Junhyung’s right hand.
“No. Why would I be?” His only response was Hyunseung shrugging. They reached the apartment in silence. “Let’s get inside.”
Junhyung helped Hyunseung out of the car, slinging his right arm across his shoulders to keep him from falling. They made their way to the door, Junhyung unlocked it. He stepped through it, pulling Hyunseung with him. Hyunseung stumbled, causing both of them to fall.
Doojoon and Yoseob raced from the kitchen, Dongwoon from the bathroom, and Kikwang from his shared room with Hyunseung. They all saw Hyunseung toppled over, Junhyung trapped beneath him.
“Help me, please,” Junhyung grumbled. “He’s heavy.” Doojoon and Yoseob rushed over to pull Hyunseung up.
“Why do I smell alcohol?” Yoseob asked, almost gagging.
“He’s drunk,” Junhyung replied, scooting back. Kikwang and Dongwoon each grabbed an arm and hoisted Junhyung to his feet. “Thanks.”
Kikwang caught a whiff of alcohol on Junhyung’s breath and plugged his nose. “Your breath smells like it, too, hyung.”
“You were drinking and driving?!” Doojoon gasped.
“No! I’m not stupid! Besides, I don’t drink!”
“Then why do you smell like alcohol?” Dongwoon asked.
“Because the drunken idiot kissed me!” Junhyung stormed away, slamming the door to his and Dongwoon’s room.
“Do I really have to share a room with him?” Kikwang asked.
Doojoon sighed. “Bunk with Yoseob. I’ll sleep in your room with him.”
Kikwang and Doojoon dragged Hyunseung to his room, easing him onto his bed. Kikwang grabbed his pillow and hurried to Doojoon and Yoseob’s room. He returned to throw Doojoon’s pillow at him, and left.
“You sure are lucky that Junhyung cares about you enough to let you ride in his car drunk,” Doojoon whispered, placing the trash can beside Hyunseung’s bed.
“Hyung?” Dongwoon asked, peering into the room.
“Yeah? What’s wrong?”
“Junhyung locked me out of the room.” Dongwoon stood against the doorframe, staring at his feet.
“Stay here with Hyunseung. I’ll go see if Junhyung will talk to me.”
Doojoon walked to the room where Junhyung sealed himself in. Music could be heard from inside. Doojoon sighed and pounded on the door. No answer. He pounded again.
“Hey! Junhyung! Open the door!” Doojoon yelled.
The music stopped and the door swung open. Junhyung stood there, sunglasses covering his eyes. His hoodie was hanging loosely off his left shoulder.
“Tell Dongwoon I’m sorry about that,” Junhyung apologized. He walked to the couch and sat down, grabbing the remote.
“What is wrong with you?” Doojoon followed the younger man into the living room. “Why did you lock Dongwoon out of the room?”
“I needed a little privacy, hyung. No big deal.”
“You know he still feels left out. And privacy is what the bathroom is for.”
“I’ll apologize to him tomorrow. Tell him I’m out of the room.”
“Why are you acting like such a prick?” Doojoon’s words finally caused a reaction.
“You try acting normal after being totally shell-shocked!”
“You’re still upset about him kissing you?”
“He’s in a relationship he’d never leave for anything. He was drunk. And when I tried to push him away, he pulled me closer! How the hell am I supposed to act after that?”
Three nosy roommates had there heads peering around the corner into the living room. Kikwang was leaning on Yoseob and Dongwoon was leaning on Kikwang. A gagging noise came from down the hall. It was followed by the sound of something wet hitting the solid bottom of the trash can.
“Hyunseung?” Doojoon asked stupidly.
Junhyung pushed passed Doojoon and hurried to Hyunseung and Kikwang’s room. He pushed the door open, seeing Hyunseung leaning over the trash can, vomiting.
“Ju-Junnie,” Hyunseung whispered. Junhyung walked over and sat next to his hyung. He wiped his hand across Hyunseung’s forehead, erasing the beads of perspiration.
“I’m right here,” Junhyung replied. He pulled his sunglasses off and tossed them onto Kikwang’s bed. “I’ll be here until you fall asleep.”
Hyunseung shook his head. “Please stay the whole night, Junnie.” He looked up, his eyes easily finding and holding Junhyung’s.
“I’ll stay the whole night,” Junhyung promised. He scooted back until his back was against the headboard. He placed Hyunseung’s pillow in his lap and patted it. “Try to get some sleep.”
Hyunseung smiled weakly, leaning his head on his pillow and closing his eyes. His hand found Junhyung’s and he held it tightly. Absentmindedly, Junhyung ran his fingers through his hyung’s hair.
“What’s with Junhyung being all lovey-dovey?” Doojoon asked, peering inside. Him and the three others went unnoticed by the two in the room.
“Maybe when Hyunseung kissed him earlier, he fell in love!” Dongwoon joked.
“Junhyung would do that for any of us,” Kikwang noted. “Although Hyunseung is older than him, Junhyung is more of an adult.”
“Yeah, that’s true.”
The nosy band mates left their spot by the door and went to their rooms. Junhyung spent the rest of the night sitting against Hyunseung’s headboard, trying to soothe the elder whenever he got sick or started crying. It was only then that Junhyung found something startling.
“Hyung, where did this cut come from?” he asked, brushing Hyunseung’s hair away from his right temple. A deep gash was now visible, the skin around it bruised purple.
“He hits me, Junnie,” Hyunseung squeaked.
