Chapter Fifteen:
Hyunseung entered Kyuhyun’s café, walking over and ringing the little bell. Ryeowook walked from the kitchen, smiling as usual.
“Good morning, Hyunseung!” Ryeowook greeted. “What can I get for you?”
“I just came by to get some coffee for Donghae and Eunhyuk,” Hyunseung replied, returning the smile. “They’re addicted to it.”
“That’s because I make the best coffee,” Kyuhyun laughed, starting the coffee maker.
“Isn’t all coffee the same?”
“Not at all! There’s different aromas, different tastes, different ways to make it, different-”
“Okay, I get it!” Hyunseung threw his hands up in surrender. “I need two cups of coffee to go, please.”
The bell on the door jingled, and Kyuhyun turned to greet the customer. He stopped, mouth agape, staring at who it was.
“Zhoumi…?” Ryeowook glared at him. He squeaked when Henry entered the café behind him. “Get out before I call the cops.”
“The secret to being intimidating is actually sounding like a threat,” Zhoumi responded. His eyes were locked on Kyuhyun. “Kui Xian.”
“Get out!” Kyuhyun instinctively wrapped his arm around Ryeowook, keeping him a safe distance away from Henry.
“Give me another chance, Kui Xian. I want you back. I love-”
“Don’t finish that sentence, Zhoumi.” Kyuhyun closed his eyes. “You never once proved you loved me. It’s been over for more than three years now.” His eyes flashed open when he heard a slapping sound. They widened when he saw the person who stepped in. “Hongki? When did you get here?”
“I was sitting in the corner booth for a few hours,” Hongki replied, smirking. He winked at Kyuhyun before turning his stony gaze on Zhoumi and Henry. “You used me.”
“Hongki, we can explain!” Henry defended.
“I don’t need an explanation, you bastard.”
“Don’t talk to him like that.” Zhoumi was prepared to hit him again before something caught his attention. “What are you smiling for?”
“When I get used, I get revenge. Who better to go to when revenge is a part of the equation than those of One Day?”
“One Day is here?!”
Hongki clutched the walkie-talkie at his belt, pulling it toward his lips, and pressing the button. “Showtime, fellas.”
The front door swung open, the bell jingling overhead as Changmin, Nickhun, and Junho stood there. They had their handguns ready to fire, their fingers hovering near the triggers. Inside the kitchen, the back door was heard before Chansung, Seulong, and Jokwon appeared by the door connecting the dining area to the kitchen. A second later, Wooyoung, Jinwoon, and Taecyeon walked from around the corner, having crawled in through the bathroom window.
“O-One Day? You weren’t lying?!” Zhoumi’s arm lashed out, ready to strike Hongki again, but failing as Hyunseung caught his arm.
“You aren’t going to lay another finger on anyone here.”
“Get off of him!” Henry shoved Hyunseung, his back hitting the wall roughly.
“Hyunseung!” Ryeowook gasped, although too terrified to leave his place from behind Kyuhyun.
“You have three seconds to get outside before you get thrown out,” Changmin warned.
Zhoumi laughed. “Are you going to force us out?”
“One,” Changmin, Nickhun, and Junho started.
“I’m not afraid of you idiots!”
“Two,” Chansung, Seulong, and Jokwon counted together.
“Bring it on, assholes!”
“Three,” Wooyoung, Jinwoon, and Taecyeon finished.
After a second, Zhoumi grinned. “What? Too afraid to-” He was cut off when someone hit him in the face. He glared to the side, not knowing who else arrived.
“Get out before we shoot you,” Junsu ordered. “I don’t want your blood staining Kyuhyun’s café.”
“What are you talking about? I’m not even bleeding!”
“Not yet.” Hongki smirked, an evil gleam in his eyes. “But you will be.”
“What are you-”
Zhoumi yelped as Changmin pulled him backwards, throwing him out the open front door. He stumbled, falling to his hands and knees. Henry soon followed, carried out over Taecyeon’s shoulder. He was thrown down next to Zhoumi. The members of One Day surrounded them, preventing any escape. Henry huddled closer to Zhoumi, his eyes wide with fright.
“W-what are you going to do to us?” Henry cowered closer to Zhoumi, trying to hide behind him.
“It depends on how cooperative you are,” Nickhun explained. “If you absolutely refuse, we shoot you.”
“You’ll have to shoot-”
“I surrender!” Henry sniffled, throwing his hands up in surrender. “Please don’t kill me!”
“We won’t as long as your surrender is sincere,” Junho stated.
“It is sincere! I’m sorry! Please don’t hurt me!” He broke down crying, not bothering to contain his wailing.
“Take him to the jailhouse. Have Joon lock him up in a cell,” Jinwoon told Chansung. The other nodded, grabbing Henry’s arm and hoisting him up.
“Let’s go, crybaby,” he said, tugging him toward the station.
“Traitor…” Zhoumi stood, trying to appear intimidating. “I will never surrender to you idiots. I’m not weak like that coward!”
“I pity you then,” Wooyoung said, frowning. He glanced at Hongki who nodded sharply once. He pilled out his handgun along with the other members of One Day.
“Wait, what’s going on? You’re going to shoot me?!”
“Only if you retaliate,” Taecyeon informed. He looked at Hongki and smiled. “He’s your personal punching bag for a while.”
Hongki smirked, taking a swing at Zhoumi. He staggered backward hands clutching his stomach. “I’m not through with you yet,” Hongki stated, his eyes gleaming with revenge. He took another swing at Zhoumi, this time causing him to gasp for air. “Ready to beg for forgiveness?”
“Do your worst,” Zhoumi spat.
Hongki kicked him, knocking him to his knees. “Oh, I will.” He grabbed Zhoumi by his hair, forcing him to look up. “You used me.” A few minutes later, Zhoumi’s face was bloody, his body limp on the road. “You shot Jaejin…”
“Hongki, you can stop now,” Seulong suggested. Remembering the younger hurt made Hongki’s head spin. He stomped down on Zhoumi’s arm, snapping the bone. Zhoumi shrieked, shouting out curses in Chinese.
“Hongki, you should stop,” Jokwon repeated. Hongki went to punch Zhoumi again when someone pulled him away from the wailing man.
“Yah, Hongki, stop now,” Changmin ordered quietly. He had his arms wrapped around the younger, pinning the younger’s arms to his sides to restrain him. “I’ll take you to the clinic after you’ve calmed down.”
“I want to see Jaejin…” Tears ran down his cheeks, slowly dropping to the ground. “Take me to Jaejin, hyung.”
“Alright.” Changmin looked over his shoulder. “Yah, Taecyeon and Wooyoung. Get Siwon on the phone and tell him about Zhoumi. Maybe they’ve got the jailhouse equipped with a medical facility.” He smiled sadly at Hongki. “I’ll take you to see Jaejin.”
As the two left, Taecyeon tossed his phone to Wooyoung. “Call Siwon. I’m going inside to see if they’re unharmed.” Inside, he noticed Hyunseung rubbing his back while Ryeowook dashed into the kitchen to fetch some ice for him. “Yah, are you guys okay?”
“Thanks to you we are,” Kyuhyun sighed, hoisting himself up onto the counter. “I never want Zhoumi to come here again. I hate him…”
“Hate is a strong word, don’t you think?”
Shaking his head, Kyuhyun closed his eyes. “To me, hate isn’t strong enough.”
“You just use it since you can’t find a stronger word,” Ryeowook explained, returning to Hyunseung and handing him the ice.
“Thanks, hyung,” Hyunseung said, placing the icepack against his back. “Jiyong would kill me if I got hurt before we’re married.”
“Aren’t you getting married tomorrow?”
Hyunseung smiled brightly. “Yeah, it’s tomorrow. I’m already nervous as hell.”
“I bet. Well, if you don’t mind, One Day will be leaving now. Call one of us if you need something.”
“Thanks, Taecyeon.” The three waved to him as he walked out. “He’s nice, huh?” Kyuhyun and Hyunseung looked at him with wide eyes.
“Ryeowook, are you crushing on Taecyeon?” Hyunseung took a step toward him, a smile on his face. “Ryeowookie likes Taecyeon hyung!”
“W-what? I-I do not! I don’t like h-him!” He felt his face flush from the youngest’s teasing.
Kyuhyun laughed. “You aren’t supposed to laugh while trying to deny something, Ryeowook! I think Shindong is going to have a new parent!”
“Guys, s-stop it! I do not have a crush on Taecyeon!”
“Admit it, hyung, you like Taecyeon!”
“Alright, alright! Stop teasing me! I admit that I like him a little. But I also happen to like someone else…”
“Who? Who? Who?”
“Yeah, hyung, who?”
“Nickhun…”
