Summary: Yunho and Jaejoong decide to treat their friends to dinner and a weekend trip to the beach. It’s in the midst of it all that Jaejoong learns something about his best friend.
Jaejoong and Yunho stared at their friends, all three of them looking back incredulously at them. “You said you were what?!” Junsu shrieked, feeling lightheaded.
Jaejoong chuckled, a small smile gracing his face at his friend’s apparent horror. “We’re dating each other,” Jaejoong repeated, his hand clasped together with Yunho’s under the picnic table at the park they met at.
“How long have the two of you been dating?” Yuchun asked, seeming completely unaffected by their announcement.
“We’ve been dating for three years, four months, twelve days, eleven hours, fifteen minutes, and ten seconds,” Yunho blurted.
Changmin’s jaw nearly hit the ground. “Three years?! You’ve been dating for three years and are just now telling us?” he shouted. “I’m offended! Why didn’t you tell us before?”
Jaejoong looked at him apologetically before he patted the younger’s hand. “We wanted to make sure our relationship would last before we told you three. Your our friends so it’d have been awkward if we told you and then broke up.”
“After making it a year, you could have told us!” Changmin pulled away from Jaejoong, crossing his arms as he pouted. “You have to make it up to us now.”
Yunho and Jaejoong shared a look before Yunho smiled at them. “We already though you’d say that, so we planned something. We want to treat you guys to a nice dinner tonight and then head out to the beach. If we leave right after we eat, we should get there around sunrise tomorrow morning.”
Changmin’s mood instantly changed, a large smile replacing his frown as he sat forward and stared expectantly at Yunho. “Really? You’re taking us to the beach?” When Yunho nodded, Changmin jumped up form his seat at the picnic table and started running around like a five-year-old after they were told that they’d be going to a toy store.
Yuchun shook his head, picking up his bottle of water and unscrewing the cap. He was about to take a drink when a thought occurred to him. He looked at Jaejoong and then at Yunho. “How many times have you two had sex?” he deadpanned. Junsu spluttered beside him while Changmin lost his concentration in the middle of performing a cartwheel and fell to the ground. Jaejoong and Yunho stared blankly at Yuchun, their faces both turning an odd shade of red at his question.
Yunho cleared his throat, brushing the hair out of his eyes. “We…um…” He looked down before turning his attention back to Yuchun. “Yah, don’t ask things like that. It’s an invasion of our privacy!”
Jaejoong nodded, agreeing with Yunho. “We’ll pick you guys up later. Right now, we need to go finish the last minute details for our trip.”
It was nearing six o’clock when they pulled up to a fancy restaurant. Yunho climbed out and handed his keys to the chauffer as the other four got out. Jaejoong smiled as Yunho took his hand and they led their friends to the podium. “Reservations under Jung Yunho,” Yunho said. He smiled when the man searched through the papers.
“Ah, right this way, Mr. Jung,” he replied, leading them to a private dining area. “The waiter will be right with you to take your order.”
“What’s with such a fancy place? A fast food place would have suited us better,” Changmin said, looking around. He adjusted his tie, loosening it a little. “And why did we have to dress up for this?”
Yunho and Jaejoong shared a look before they looked at their friends. “This isn’t just a trip to the beach,” Jaejoong said, smiling at the odd looks he received. “Yunho and I are going to get married this weekend. We wanted the three of you to be there with us.”
Junsu looked as if he was about to pass out. “You’re getting married?!” he squawked. “Why do you never let us in on these things until after you’ve decided for yourselves?”
“We couldn’t decide who should be the best man, so it’s just going to be a simple ceremony,” Yunho continued.
Yuchun held a hand up to stop him. “What you’re telling us is that you’re eloping and you want us to be there when you do, right?”
“That’s exactly it.”
“Why not have your parents be there?” Junsu asked.
“Our parents don’t necessarily like us being together. They blame me for stealing Yunho’s so-called innocence away and mine blame him for doing the same.”
“We’ll be there when you elope.” Yuchun offered them a smile. “But if you’re marrying each other just to spite your parents, then we aren’t going along with it.”
“Chun, Yunho and I really love each other. Nothing is going to change that.”
The waiter arrived shortly after and they ordered, all deciding to eat in silence. Junsu thought he was going to be sick a few times when Yunho took his napkin and wiped off Jaejoong’s mouth and then again when they shared a spaghetti noodle until their lips touched like some corny movie remake. Yunho paid after they finished eating and they all piled into his car again. They headed for the highway, toward the ocean and to the place where Yunho and Jaejoong would marry.
Yunho pulled into the parking lot of the hotel they’d be staying at. Once again, they all climbed out of the car, all stretching to relieve the stiffness in the muscles. “I’m going to go sign in our two rooms. Go on down to the beach if you want,” Yunho said, heading for the door.
“Two rooms? Why not four?” Changmin asked.
“Four would be too expensive,” Jaejoong replied, heading for the walkway to the beach. “Yunho and I are getting the honeymoon suite while you three get a three bed suite.”
Junsu let out a sigh of relief. “I’m ecstatic that I don’t have to share a bed with anyone,” he said, following Jaejoong. Changmin and Yuchun trailed after them, both just gazing around at the scenery.
“Let’s go swimming!” Changmin suddenly shouted, nearly shoving Yuchun, Junsu, and Jaejoong out of his way. All you could hear was his laughter as he left behind articles of clothing as he headed for the water.
“Yah, Changmin, wait for me!” Junsu called after him, soon pulling off his shirt and pants. They were lucky that Yunho had called them before dinner, telling them to wear swimwear instead of their usual boxers.
Yuchun looked at Jaejoong before he looked at the sand, hands in his pockets. He wanted to go play with Junsu and Changmin, but he didn’t want to leave Jaejoong on the beach by himself. “Just go already,” Jaejoong told him. He looked up at his friend, seeing Jaejoong smile and nod. “Go on, Yuchun. Yunho will be out soon so we’ll be joining you three shortly.”
Yuchun headed after the other two, leaving his own trail of clothes behind him. Jaejoong shook his head, going and collecting their clothes when Yunho arrived and started helping him. “Yah, why aren’t you having fun with them?” Yunho asked, picking up Junsu’s shirt and Yuchun’s suit jacket.
Jaejoong glanced up at him, frowning once he saw that Yunho was getting their friends’ clothes all mixed up. “Yah, Jung Yunho, go play. I’ll pick up their things.”
Yunho smiled, shaking his head as he folded the clothes neatly and set them down beside him. “I’ll wait for you to go play.”
Jaejoong went back to work, deciding that Yunho was just picking up the clothes that were closest to him. After he sorted the three separate piles, he wrote their names in the sand above them, adding his and Yunho’s names before unbuttoning his shirt. “Let’s see how long Changmin can hold his breath under water.”
Yunho knew that the smirk Jaejoong was wearing actually meant “Let’s hold Changmin under water and see how long it is before he starts thrashing around to get some air.”
They started for the water, Yunho taking Jaejoong’s hand and linking their fingers together. As they reached the water, Jaejoong stopped abruptly, causing Yunho to stumble and look at him. “Is something wrong?”
Jaejoong shook his head. “I just wanted to look at the ocean for a minute. The sun is just rising and it turns the water pretty shades of blue while it sets the sky on fire with different hues of red and orange.”
Yunho looked out over the ocean, frowning when he saw different shades of black and gray. He smiled when Jaejoong looked at him and he nodded. “It’s very pretty.” He squeezed Jaejoong’s hand affectionately before he released it and ran into deeper water, grabbing Changmin around the waist and throwing him into the water.
Junsu was busy trying to help Changmin dunk Yunho underwater as Yuchun walked up to Jaejoong, clapping him on the shoulder and pulling him out of his thoughts. “Shouldn’t you be happier being here?” Yuchun asked him, worried about his friend’s lack of enthusiasm.
Jaejoong stared at Yunho for a few more minutes before turning to Yuchun. “Do you think that Yunho is behaving oddly today?”
Yuchun looked to where Yunho had succeeded in fending off Junsu and Changmin, throwing both of them into the water. “He doesn’t seem to be acting weird. Maybe it’s just lack of sleep or something.”
“When he was helping me pick up yours, Junsu’s, and Changmin’s clothes, he put Junsu’s gray shirt with your blue suit jacket. And when I was talking about the sunrise, he seemed like he didn’t know what I was talking about.”
Yuchun patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry too much over it. You’ll give yourself premature gray hair.”
“I think I’m going to go in and take a nap. We drove all night. Maybe my head is just messing with me. Tell Yunho that I have to room key and where I’ll be.” Jaejoong left Yuchun standing there without awaiting and answer and went to where he set his clothes down. He pulled on his white sure and black suit pants, slinging his jacket over his arm and heading for the hotel.
Yunho looked over with a smile on his face, it disappearing when he didn’t see Jaejoong standing on the shoreline. He looked at Yuchun for an answer. “Yah, Chun, where’d my fiancé go?”
“Jaejoong said he was tired. He took your room key and went inside to lay down for a bit.” Yuchun sat down where he was, letting the waves wash over him when they came in. “I’ll go check on him in a little bit.”
Jaejoong peered out the window of the honeymoon suite, watching all of them running along the water. He crossed the room and turned on the laptop he had brought with him, bringing up the web browser. It took him several tries to find a site where he could type in the symptoms of what he thought Yunho might have. He stared blankly at the screen after he read the entry on a medical site. He shook his head slowly, unable to wrap his head around the fact that Yunho might be completely colorblind. He was glad it might only be that and nothing more since there were so many different things it could mean.
“Yunho can’t be colorblind, right?” he asked himself. He heard someone shuffling around outside the door and he froze. In a split second, he closed his laptop after minimizing the browser and dove for the bed. He ended up banging his head on the headboard just as Yunho walked in.
“My Jaejoongie, are you sleeping?” Yunho whispered. Jaejoong stayed completely still, unable to utter a sound in fear of the other hearing his pained voice. He heard the other creep across the room and into the bathroom before he rubbed his head.
“Why is he back so soon?” Jaejoong muttered, for once seeming annoyed at seeing Yunho. He closed his eyes as Yunho came back out of the bathroom, his weight being added to the bed.
“Are you awake?” Yunho smiled when Jaejoong made a noise. He leaned against the headboard, rolling Jaejoong over so that they were facing each other. “I’m glad we could all come up here for a weekend. With Changmin going to a different university next year, the two of us graduating from university, Yuchun going overseas, and Junsu taking up his family’s business, we won’t get to do this anymore.”
“Can I ask you something?” Jaejoong buried his head against Yunho’s chest, wrapping his arms around him. “I want you to be honest with me, too.” He took the other’s silence as a signal to continue. “Are you colorblind?”
Yunho felt himself still before he let out a shaky laugh. “Where did you get such an idea? Is Changmin or Junsu saying things about me behind my back? Or was it Yuchun?” He felt Jaejoong’s arms tighten and he frowned, knowing he couldn’t trick Jaejoong anymore. He sighed, kissing the top of his fiancé’s head. “When did you find out?”
“I’ve been wondering for a while, but I found out today. When you were helping me pick up their clothes on the beach, you put Junsu’s gray shirt with Yuchun’s blue suit jacket. The colors don’t look horrible together, but those specific shades don’t match whatsoever. And when I was telling you about the sunrise and how the sun turned the ocean such a pretty blue and seemed to catch the sky on fire, you looked as if you didn’t know what I was talking about.”
Yunho ran his fingers through Jaejoong’s hair, staring at the wall in front of him. “I didn’t want you to know that I was colorblind. Junsu, Changmin, and Yuchun don’t even know about it. But the three of them knowing isn’t nearly as nerve-wracking as you knowing about it.”
“Why did you want to keep this from me?”
Yunho smiled meekly. “I didn’t want you to see me any differently. I didn’t want to feel as if I was imperfect for you.”
Jaejoong sat up, allowing Yunho’s arms to fall away from him. He smacked Yunho’s leg, causing him to look at him, wide-eyed. “Jung Yunho, don’t you know that there is nothing in the universe that would make me think that you’re imperfect? The only thing that matters is that I love you. That in itself makes you perfect.”
Yunho smiled, pulling Jaejoong close and kissing him. “I love you, Jaejoong, more than anything else in the universe.”
Jaejoong pecked him on the lips, grabbing his hand and smiling. “Is there anything else that you want to tell me before we get married?”
Yunho pulled Jaejoong to sit beside him, one arm slung across the other’s shoulders as they faced the door. He thought for a moment before placing another kiss upon Jaejoong’s lips. He smiled as he stared into Jaejoong’s eyes. “Just one thing.” When Jaejoong was about to ask, Yunho smiled wider. “I want us to adopt kids.”
Jaejoong opened his mouth to respond as Junsu, Changmin, and Yuchun entered the room noisily. He and Yunho looked at them, rolling their eyes at their friends as they all started babbling at once. “One at a time. Changmin, you first. Then Junsu and Yuchun is last. Okay? Speak.”
Changmin jumped onto the bed and wormed his way in between Yunho and Jaejoong, pouting up at the elder two. “Yuchun and Junsu said that they were going to go get something yummy to eat and that they weren’t going to invite me or bring me back any!” he whined.
“It’s because he hit me on the head and he bit Yuchun!” Junsu interrupted, pointing at Changmin.
“And he said that he was going to poor salt into our drinks while we were eating if either of us left the room,” Yuchun added.
Jaejoong looked at Yunho, the other looking back at him as they came to a decision on what to do without even talking to each other. “Okay, you three,” Yunho began. “Junsu and Yuchun, take Changmin with you when you go get whatever it is you’re getting to eat. Changmin, apologize for biting Yuchun and hitting Junsu. And while you’re eating, if Jaejoong or I so much as catch you glancing at the salt shaker, you’re going to be in trouble. Got it?”
The three of them nodded before scurrying out of the room and shutting the door. Yunho leaned his head back and closed his eyes as Jaejoong just stared at him, smiling like a fool. He laughed when Yunho looked down at him, causing the other to raise an eyebrow in confusion. “About you wanting us to adopt kids. I think it’d be better if we taught the three we have how to behave while we aren’t around.”
