Duet Oct Ryutaro - Translation

Morimoto Ryutaro, at 9 years old received a certain "shock" for the first time at the jimusho's lesson place.

"Whenever I'd make a mistake, the choreographer would yell at me, "Go home!". Ever since I was born, not even once I was yelled at like that until that time. My parents have never yelled at me? It's not that I was sad but I was so surprised that I was in a panicked state (laughs)."

His first dance. He took the audition since his mom encouraged him to but though Morimoto who passed the Jr. [audition], had no experience in dancing and singing. In the life lessons filled with seniors, accompanied with skills, without any reason "It was like they were telling me that I didn't have to come."  But dancing at the 3rd row was going towards the 2nd one. And then in a blink of an eye, he was made to go to the big position, the 1st row.

"Because I was short, they made me be there because that would be the best place where balance would be seen (laughs), as I was gradually appearing at the front, I thought, "This has become a bad thing". So I intended to return to being an average elementary kid. But then even my younger brother Shintaro entered the Jimusho. I couldn't leave little Shintaro alone, could I? I decided that I would do my best until Shintaro could be independent. Maa, [with the thought] "this was my mistake", I quickly realize things. You get it right? Without me knowing, Shintaro became independent!"

With Shintaro joining in, as the Morimoto brothers they played the role of siblings in the drama "Juken no Kamisama." This drama became a chance for Morimoto to change his feelings.

"TOKIO's Yamaguchi Tatsuya who co-starred with us was very kind so I thought "I want to become a person like Yamaguchi-san!". Around that time I was selected to be part of JUMP, I had to do my best as to not set a bad example not only to Shintaro, but also to other Jrs."

With a debut settled, he decided upon his readiness. But as the "youngest member", it gradually became pressuring.

"You're the youngest so whatever you do, you'll just be forgiven, ne", I really hate being told that, I didn't want to act like a spoiled child. At first, I would get meddled with by the other members but I was just silent, not talking back at all. I don't know at all whether those were jokes or something serious, I was really frightened. Maa, thanks to that, if those stuff were done to me now, I would be able to retort (laughs). Other than that, I didn't want anyone to think "Because you're the youngest, if you can't [do something] then it can't be helped." JUMP's members, 10 of us, everyone stood at the same starting line, no? So i thought, "I won't lose." "

So that he could test that determination, he practiced in succession. The volleyball report, the Tokyo Dome concert, the second summary..  It was all about things he doesn't learn in school.

"When something new comes in front of me, I think "there is no way that I can do this!" and then I become appalled. Whenever I'd think, "As a member of JUMP, I have to do this" or "because of my strong weaknesses, it's impossible for me to bring down JUMP's value", my weird power would come out seeping.

Also at this year's SUMMARY, it was filled with flabbergasting things (laughs) but everyone does their best so, my feelings were "I'll do my best too".  At the time we were formed, I thought, "I definitely won't lose to these members" but recently I think, "It's okay even if I don't compete with them." So my position is my position and everyone has their own too. It's not front or behind but we have to aim for "up" more, ne."

Even if he is the youngest member, he has the traits of the eldest. Morimoto plus his one-track mind that hates being askew, his flexibility and height will definitely take a big step soon.
