I am re-reading 「卒業生」 and I cannot stop reading this scene, it's so beautiful.  I've left the Japanese script in tact and wrote descriptions plus translations below it.  This is spoilerific and basically towards the ending of the series so if you want to spare yourself and wait until you get to this part -- which by the way, is well worth waiting ( Read more... )

Sotsugyousei is pure, pure love. Kusakabe and Sajo are so, SO cute. I am absolutely in love with Nakamura Asumiko's style too. I seriously walked into a store, saw her manga and bought every comic they had by here based *solely* on her artwork. Later I was super inspired when I realized that her stories were just as good. She is pure awesome.

I know *___* The lines are so clean and so pretty. I haven't seen anything like this for a really long time, and not sure if I've seen anything like this at all. Clean lines, clean toning, very good use of space allocation, wonderful artistic style, totally mesmerizing *____* I think I was just really shocked when I opened up the books and started reading 'cause I'm not sure I've seen such a precise and clean style before. The story is so beautiful too. It's been a while since I've read something that grabbed my heart strings like Sotsugyousei, and I felt like I was just falling in love while reading it. Pure love without any of the usual teenage angst that borders on abuse, violence, etc. Just simple, sweet, pure love. I think because of this that I was so blown away by the story. It's a very cliche-like story, but to me it was just breath-taking. I haven't seen something this simple so well-done. I'm still kind of in my little "Nakamura Asumiko" fantasy land in my head right now lol ^__^ I love her work. The next time ( ... )
