And then suddenly, the sound of breaking twigs and brush met her ears and she twisted around in time to see a huge black thing sprinting at her, teeth flashing, and bared, and she had just enough time to let out the first half of a scream as it leapt toward her - and Dean hit her from the side, tumbling them both out of the thing's path ( ... )

It was the sound of his brother's voice on the other line that drew him up shirt, years of hearing that same tone of voice in hunts making him immediately stand from his bed. He was already dressing in his heavy duty clothes, ones he'd hidden in the back of his closet so he wouldn't have to see them mixed together with his 'normal' clothes. He was drawn up short by both the fact that Dean had been hunting a black dog, on his own, for god's sake, and now Jess was with him ( ... )
