[He knew it would only be a matter of time before it happened again, but he wasn't expecting it to be so soon. This time, it didn't really hurt, though it did cause him to raise an eyebrow ( Read more... )

Look at Draco all cute and developing. /pinches cheek aphephobic August 7 2011, 00:49:46 UTC
Why would you want to put me through that again?

Because I can't do this on my own, unfortunately, lest I end up exploding at everyone. Besides, you learned from it last time if I recall.

Does it at least get to be a Potter-free environment this time?

That's a bit too much to ask for. You won't even have to talk to him if you don't want to, I'll take you on myself.

[He's a tad bit surprised that Draco of all people is the one to bring up the DA again.]

I wasn't about to.

I'm not so sure how much better it might be, but after that last experiment people could probably use some help with defense, magic or not.

[Believe him, he's just as surprised. But what with Hermione leaving twice and one of his closest friends being nearly killed (again) and another close friend dealing with a murderous stalker...well, he wants his bases covered.]

Believe me, ours is better. The last experiment was rather enlightening, actually, and considering the fact that the defense groups currently in place are mostly for physical defense, why not?

[That part, Harry can understand at least.]

Will we be as effective as they are with the power limits in place?

I will be. I don't know about the rest of you.

You're going to let power limits stop you?

Proposition?

[Not that he's necessarily interested--but hey, now that the excitement's died down he's bored again.]

You know what that is, don't you, Vanitas? [Ohhh wait. Wait, wait. He's a bit skeptical of Vanitas in general, but not enough to write him off completely yet. Instead he'll just be vague for a moment.]

[There's a pause, (because Vanitas can't remember if he told Draco his name, or not) before he gives a light snort.]

It's a simple question; quit beating around the bush.

[Whoops. Ummm...stalling!]

Proposition of taking on a few noteworthy students in a specialized art.

Yes, a proposition. Depending on skill level, of course.

Elaborate for me. I'm not familiar with a Helios.

Worthy of what, exactly?

That's my own secret. If people are worthy, they'll know. [Besides, what's the fun in coming right out and saying that he's monitoring if people are worthy of being taken on as members of the DA or not?]

So you'll only teach people to defend themselves from harm should they meet some undefined criteria.

There's no point in teaching someone who can't learn the things we're teaching. That seems rather counterproductive, don't you think?
