[He knew it would only be a matter of time before it happened again, but he wasn't expecting it to be so soon. This time, it didn't really hurt, though it did cause him to raise an eyebrow

[This is a fascinating question, if only because Robert has been trying to learn magic repeatedly - granted, having an obscenely difficult time with it, but trying - and has multiple friends who can.
But most importantly, he has his thesis, which could really stand to be worked on now that things aren't as problematic.]
I am researching magic and other paranormal phenomena, if that counts?

I have heard of them from my friend, Mr. Helios Sprensonne. Something like that occurred in his world as well, and is actually a reason for his magic-capable community doing much the same thing as yours.
I apologize for not knowing more, but it is rather out of my time period. I am from a time frame of roughly 2332 A.D., Standard Terran Years.
[And apathy towards history doesn't help.]
If we did not endeavour to study all that we can, then nothing more would be learned. The only method of advancing science is to question everything and to be constantly working towards expanding one's knowledge base.

I suppose I expect better from humanity. Admittedly, the selection of humans here is often much better than the worlds they represent.
Not at all. I am not even the person the furthest in the comparitive future - my friend, Ms. Daisy, is from the 25th century.
[There's never too much questioning, in Robert's eyes.] In a place such as this, questioning is the only way to find anything out - though, I must confess, the going has been particularly slow here.

I am almost certain her world and mine are entirely different. In my experience, with the exception of those who directly know each other, most hominids here come from some version of Terra - or Earth - but they are all strikingly different in some way, which is consistent with Terran Multiversal Theory.
Generally, one collects new information, sees if this new information suggests any possible answers, and if it does, look into the questions formed from that. There have been some interesting questions that have been raised as a result of study I have done with some others - but considering the Malnosso monitor these connections, it may be best to refrain from mentioning them here.

Well, simply put - like anything else, observation is one of the best ways to obtain data. Even if it does not apply to my world, it applies to others, and understanding the possible variations of different worlds' physics would be a great benefit for both Terran physicists and the physicists of others' worlds.
[... That and he's also honestly curious. And the mun figured out he can definitely learn Filial magic, so there's that.]

[SIIIIGH. Draco is probably going to throw a temper tantrum about this, but that's good at least! Yay learning! but he can't just ignore that. Unfortunately. He could, but he'd have the nagging voice in his head that sounded an awful lot like Hermione if he did.]
Fine. One sit-in. You're allowed to sit in only on one lesson until you can either prove yourself as useful to our meetings, or until I decide to grant you another pass. Whichever comes first. Fair?

I believe that is fair. [At least tentatively - Robert is determined to prove that his input, as a scientist from an entirely non-magical world, can have relevance and worth in a discussion about magic.
If nothing else, he provides the fascinating counterpoint - the what-if statement - that could be used to analyze the phenomena involved...]

Sure. But I'll tell you this. Like the other Muggles I've offered, you have to find out when the first meeting is yourself. I'm not offering advice or hints. The challenge is up to you.

...you must be joking. [Well. Actually that's not too terrible, considering some of the people he's met here.]
But it sounds more like there's too much questioning and not enough getting answers and expanding knowledge. That's just my personal opinion.

But is she from your world? How do you know it's the same 25th century? Where exactly does that place you.
Precisely my point. How do you expect to formulate new questions if you can't answer the ones you already have?

Now. Explain to me again how this applies to you wanting to watch magic lessons?

Thank you for considering this proposal.

I understand.
[The first thing to do, obviously, will be to ask every magical person he knows about the meeting. One of which is Helios.]
With any luck, I shall see you at this meeting.
