[After about two and a half weeks, Draco's finally worked up enough nerve to go back to "his" lake. If anybody were to drop in and visit, they'd find him on his hands and knees, staring out into the water. He has his journal open like he was going to contact someone, but it seems as though he's second-guessing himself ( Read more... )

maybe there's a giant squid?, eighteen's a good age, no this isn't the black lake, getting over lake fears

What happened last year?

Nothing entirely drastic. [Read that as: "nothing I want to share with you."] I turned seventeen.

Really? You look older than seventeen. [See also: ways to make people curious.]

...

Happy birthday!

That's because last year I turned seventeen. Add one.

...[He almost laughs though.] You really aren't that easily deterred, are you? [If only because it's much easier than saying thank you to someone that he still sees as a threat gdi. Tsuzuki, Hisoka is too busy being stupid around you instead of paying attention to him and never mind that he's busy with certain black-haired blokes with glasses and ugly forehead scars he doesn't know very well.]

[Back at the SO4 Fort, there is a specky git in the kitchen, mostly because he couldn't really explain why he's cooking to the folks back home. However, one might smell delicious cake if they wander inside the house. Harry Potter is good for three things: saving the Wizarding World, Quidditch, and cooking.]

[Oh, Harry has plenty of time to fiddle with his cake. Draco's going to spend quite a bit of his time at the lake. However, we'll say he doesn't come back for a few hours, later in the evening. He picks up on the scent of cake wafting through the open window of his bedroom before he gets to the house, and really, he's actually...confused. He doesn't remember telling Myuria about his birthday. Like hell Arumat would make a cake anyway. So...? He's going to step up onto the porch and into the house, the scent of cake getting much stronger as he follows his nose to the kitchen.]

Myuria, what are yo--[He stops though just inside the frame of the kitchen entrance, blinking in surprise at the sight of one brunette flitting around the kitchen (his kitchen, in fact) and staying rooted in his spot.] ...Potter? [Well. He thought he saw the giant squid earlier...maybe this is a hallucination as well.]

[Said brunet is trying to finish icing the cake. He can put ingredients together, but icing the cake was always the part where Aunt Petunia would fuss at him to get away from the cake. It's a good cake, but between trying to cheat with half-functioning magic and sheer awkward clumsiness, he's got flour, icing, and various bits of ingredients all over himself. And on top of that, he looks a little embarrassed. He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly.]

Er... I got the date right, yeah?

[He's still just...staring. The cake's good-looking, yeah, but he's mostly fixated on the mess known as Harry Potter. There are several things he'd like to say right now, and they're all fighting to the front of his brain, but all he can do is stand there for another few blank moments.]

...you actually remembered.

[Someone is bored with being laid up for a while, so have some heckling, Draco.]

It's even more remarkable now that you're living under the same roof as me.

[Oh yay, his favorite person ever! Draco's just going to shake his head, but he'll entertain the thought anyway. After all, he knows how bored stiff he was when he was busy healing up.]

Again with the Death references, Arumat? Really, you either think much too highly of yourself, or you don't think highly enough of me.

[Arumat is someone who spends a few hours every day training. Being kept on bedrest is like torture to him.]

It's not as if there's much to think highly of where you're concerned.

Normally, I'd find that insulting, but I'll just blame it on the fact you're obviously suffering from cabin fever.

...no, that's a lie. I'd watch my tongue if I were you.

... what day, Draco? [ hi Draco what's up. she sounds strangely tired, but it's probably not too noticeable. maybe. ]

[Oh, he notices, but only because he's used to sounding that way himself. He won't mention it though.] June fifth.

It can be, depending on how you look at it. [Don't mind him, he's just being ridiculous.]

[And here is Luna, blinking at his words. And, like most other people, she arrives at the same conclusion - and one completely out there as well.]

Did you arrive here a year ago? Or were you attacked by a dragon?

[Voice] hisdarkmark June 6 2010, 09:40:37 UTC
So perhaps I shouldn't have phrased it li--a dragon? [That is to say, what in the hell Luna.]

[Voice] lunarwit June 6 2010, 09:46:58 UTC
Or perhaps a hippogryff, or a manticore? They're very dangerous, you know, you shouldn't have taunted it.

...this would normally be the point where I ask if you've gone mad, but I already know the answer to that. No I wasn't attacked by anything recently, and no I haven't been here for a year. Almost, but not quite.
