[Several ink splotches appear on the page at first, almost like Draco's just hovering over it trying to think of what to write. When he does write though, the writing's messier than his usual, scrunched up and sort of hurried.]Tell me about death on your worlds. Homes. Whatever. Is it the end? Do you get a second chance? Or are you sent to ( Read more... )

Depends on which part of the world you live in. Most of the religions are pretty insistent though that you die and go onto an afterlife. What kind of afterlife depends on your beliefs, and whether you did 'good' or 'evil' in your lifetime.

[Hm. There's a bit of a pause and some more ink on the page as Draco taps whatever utensil he's using on the paper. Religions haven't been proven exactly but most likely don't factor into the Wizarding World, so that's a new answer.]

Okay, but why, exactly? How do you know just because someone else has told you that's what you should believe?

That's where faith comes into the equation. Doesn't mean it makes sense though.

So what exactly does make sense? Something has to make sense.

Does it really matter? ...How death is and what's after, I mean. Hello to you too, though! My name's Minako. What's yours?

Of course it matters. If there's going to be an end to it all, I'd like to know what to possibly expect or how other worlds view it.

[...Minako are you serious.] I'm Draco.

[...You get used to it after a while. :D;]

It's nice to meet you, Draco-kun! ...Well, I don't really think it's that important, how someone dies? What really matters should be how they lived.

Kun? ...yeah, sure. [Just. What. His brain, he can already feel it hurting a tiny bit despite his mun being entertained.] Perhaps so, but there are some instances where your death won't be determined by how you live either way. A criminal and a saint can both easily be murdered by the same person, but their deaths and afterlifes might differ, you see?

[In pink ink, too.]

Death means you don't come back.

[...ugh, it's just like Yuzu. But it's an answer so he'll deal.]

That's it? No other explanation, death's just nothing?

Yep. There's the whole religion thing as well, but who knows?

That's slightly disappointing to know that you've no other thoughts on the matter and that you believe something someone else said. [Because Draco thinks maybe some prompting will help.]

Death is death, simple as that. A final destination in where there is no turning back. There is no reincarnation, no miraculous recovery whether by magic or science.

I would explain further but it appears that my subordinate has already given a detailed explanation of Cocoon and the beliefs of its people.

So Cocoon isn't just something he made up...good to know. If that's the case, is there anything else that should be known that he didn't already cover?

He covered l'Cie, did he not? That is the closest our world gets to "reincarnation", though I hesitate to call it as such as being crystallized is not death to begin with. Close to it, but not quite death.

He did, and he covered the focus and the other pieces of it, but he didn't elaborate much. So with the crystals then, if it's not quite death is it more like a coma where they can't feel? Or are they still alive and just trapped?

When you die, you are reincarnated.

You're one of the first people I've heard say there's an alternative to reaching an end point. How exactly is one reincarnated?

At home, when you die you return to Heaven. There I suppose you might be able to make a request from the Chief of Haven for what form your soul takes. But I guess it could be anything. Human. Animal. Plant.

What if you don't return to Heaven? What happens to the soul then, it just floats around uselessly?
