[This. Sucks.

Hisoka was still kidnapped. Hermione was ill. Luna was gone. And because Longbottom was kidnapped as well, Harry was sulking and moping because he wasn't the big damn hero he thought he was. It doesn't help that the brunette brought up a lot of interesting questions that Draco knew they didn't have answers to. So, what was he ( Read more... )

[He hardly hesitates to answer, his voice cold and hard.]

When what is valued is lost, retribution must be exacted.

Everyone's definition of retribution seems to differ. Does the level of value of whatever it is determine the level of retribution to be executed, or does it remain the same all the way across?

Retribution is to cause someone the same amount of suffering they caused you. To make them pay for what they did.

[A brief pause.] Irrelevant. There is only one thing I value- [He's about to say "in this world", but then remembers that Martel is not in this world.] -and that is my sister. For her, no level of retribution is too great.

[voice] html's overrated anyway~ hisdarkmark November 19 2010, 11:21:20 UTC
I'm aware of what it is, but I'm merely suggesting that in some cases? Well, retribution ought to be causing someone more suffering than they caused you. Revenge.

Family. [There's a pause as he seems to think something over.] Do you suppose she values you nearly as much as she values you?

Of course. As I have already said, no punishment is too great for those who have betrayed Martel.

I know that she does. We only have each other.

[voice] best logic ever really. also holy typo in my last reply, sorry DX hisdarkmark November 19 2010, 20:50:37 UTC
Then you lean more toward vengeance.

It doesn't matter what you do and don't have, are you absolutely sure she values you nearly as much as you value her? How can you be certain?

That is precisely what I desire.

[Treading into dangerous waters, there. Never question his bond with Martel.] I am absolutely certain that my sister's love for me is unwavering. I am the only one who never left her side, the only one who never turned his back on her, and vice versa. Our's is an unbreakable bond.

I like the way you think.

[Unfortunately, Draco questions everything ever.] If she were here and I were to ask her this, she'd say the same thing then?

[Oh, someone who can agree with (at least part of...) his ideals. It might be somewhat refreshing after listening to constant streams of naive delusions, except for this person also happens to be doubtful of Martel's love. Which is a mistake.]

Have I not made myself perfectly clear? There is not a single shred of doubt inside me.

You've made yourself perfectly clear, but your lack of evidence at the moment is what's questionable. That's all.

Would you suggest that I share my entire life story? [...he said with a cold sarcasm. Really, evidence. A better question would be if there is evidence to the contrary - to which the answer is, of course, absolutely not.]

If you suppose that would help, yes. [He doesn't really expect it, but he's actually somewhat amused at how determined Mithos is to sticking with his story.]

[He isn't about to waste his breath explaining absolutely everything to some unworthy mongrel.] All you need know is that everything I've done has been to ensure honor Martel's wishes and ensure her happiness. How could her love for me be anything but endlessly enduring?

[Draco would be furious to be considered an unworthy mongrel. Or even unworthy.] I wouldn't know. So long as you're so sure of it, perhaps it doesn't matter whether I believe you or not. You seem incredibly sure.

[It's probably good (and somewhat surprising) that Mithos hasn't issued any insults aloud.] Of course it doesn't matter what you think. [....okay, the inflection he places on "you" is probably about the same thing as an explicit insult.] What you choose to believe has no impact on the truth.

[There's a slightly indignant noise. He knows that tone very well because he uses it on multiple people daily.] And what I choose to say shouldn't be causing you to be this defensive, now should it?
