For the most part, the following took place between 11:30pm and 2:45am.
FULL IMAGES
1. Asuna and Ayaka A request colored for Trans9's Asuna player who I might add is rather good at her.
2. Asuna in her Combat Uniform I suppose there isn't much to say but All hail Evangeline for making some fantastic clothing.
3. NxF. Negi x Fate. C'mon you can't NOT deny this crap. It's been building for at LEAST a good ending between them, if not a direct freaking homage to a certain OTHER NxF pairing that also ends in bloody Fate.
YES I am aware that the lens flares are blinding, but I can't fit them QQ
4. NxF Taking With Fists. Yes it's a declaration. of what I haven't quite decided yet but I'm going to also alternately title this one "Befriending". The slightly messy bleedover of colors for Fate is mostly intentional, due to that he was in a damn big fight before this, as well as I suck at cleaning up lines.
5. Mirror Image In their encounter during Kyoto Arc, Negi struck Fate in about the same place in a well deserved punch to the face. He tries it once again in Magic World's introduction but fails, and Negi was punched back. This is where negotiations obviously break down leading to the image one above.
6. NegixFate Round 2 Certainly didn't take me long to figure out what went wrong with the first one, despite mucking with it a lot. Proper colors this time, especially for Fate (why of why did I not color him properly in the first place), background set, lens flares not as hideously blinding anymore. I think I really nailed it with this one.
7. Deep Kiss~ Nodoka has a vivid imagination, and has thought of doing this with Negi. Often. And possibly repeatedly. This comes from the MahoraFest when they're on their date to be honest.
8. Konoka Age 18 A fan favorite of mine that I managed to clean up, adjust and scan from my books. The original of this was CRAP so I'm putting my better higher res version up.
9. The Defining Moment or otherwise known as "The Most Obvious Homage to NanoFate in Negima". True fax. This comes from when Negi "masters" the Magica Erebea (clearly he doesn't, not yet at least) but is able to access Light Form which is also thunder based. The sense of style and design of this one was meant to be a shining hopeful moment in Negi's life and what he really wants to do with Fate.
I think Testarossa-chan just flashed back to getting hit with a Starlight Breaker in the face and wants to give Fate A a hug now.
10. Artifact of Ages Not much to say about this one. About this time, the scans on OneManga were coming out in superb quality, and when I saw Yuuna's new outfit, I just had to color her. After painstaking background cleaning (I had yet to learn the power of the Magic Eraser), I came up with this. Bright solid colors which emphasizes the gunslinger attitude that she had taken on.
11. NanoFate in Flowers and Leaves YES I know this isn't Negima but it is prudent to the history of evolution. Around this time, I was still mucking primarily in Multiply Layers, and when Liz asked me to color it for her (damnit Liz!), I took one look at it and promptly went "how the fuck do I do this?"
A little known history about me is that blonde hair and I are natural enemies. While Nanoha had the grace to actually have tones in her hair, Fate obviously eschews them. What was MORE aggravating was the sketchy style the entire piece was done up in. So after about an hour of painstakingly coloring Fate's hair, I set to work on their outfits.
That was when I discovered the Color Layer mixed with the Overlay function. With a mix of Multiply and Color I was set. But what to do about the leaves? Well clearly I couldn't color them ALL cause I was going to pull something in the process. So I improvised with several layers of Overlay. Slapping together colors in a half-hazard manner, I came up with that rather gorgeous look.
Since then, I tend to use Multiply only when I do skin. Granted Color-Overlay isn't 100% awesome like with how red Negi's hair is coming out lately, but it does wonders for clothing and backgrounds.
IN WHICH THERE ARE ICONS
Gonna post some icons here as well, and like the art section can be expanded upon at any given time. A few notes'll most likely follow each one.
1. Evangeline Kissing Negi You just cannot deny that these kisses are both adorable in both sides and just utterly hilarious.
2 through 6 in order: "Grab", "Family", "Badass", "Ku Fei" and "Grin" Grab and Grin are pretty self explanatory at best. Family came about when we got an Arika in Trans9 (and later Splendor), and the mun wanted a nice picture from the fantasy world. It was dawwable so I needed to icon it. It came out pretty well, the blue background (I do that a lot) contrasting nicely against the bright colors and the eye-drawing Spingfield Hair.
Badass was a study in frustration, tones and otherwise many many layers. I didn't want to rely on a lens flare but I did want to get the trailing smoke and a not-white background worked out. In the end I think it's nice.
Ku Fei came from the first major Ku Fei Character Building chapter and goddamn we need more Ku in our lives anyhow. Pretty, sweet, goddamn powerhouse. I'd want her training me if I had the drive to do martial arts.
7. I Get It! Ku Fei has some rare moments of pure insight, and when she does it's fairly poignant. A derp of love and a artisan of fighting, this comes from 318 when she hits on what happened to Negi to make him unnatural.
