[the sound of tinkering in the background, potions bubbling (or are they?), and maybe this is accidental, but maybe it's not. nevertheless, it takes a while for the owner to notice, and when she does - it's unimpressed.]

How devious. What to expect of a muggle device except for poor performance.

[just in time for the last bubble of the potion (poison, just in case, must be prepared, you see) to pop in the cauldron. she turns the fire off, and takes hold of her wand - a mere formality, she could deal with curious muggles with less than a swish and flick - and walks to the door.

(can't miss the modern commodities of having House Elves get the door, when you've seen much worse - Dementors, they are not servient)

she spares a glance to see who it is, although there is only one visitor that knocks that politely, and opens it, the wand behind her back.]

[ He stills himself a few short breaths and turns of wrist away from an instinctive Expelliarmus. Her wand is not at the ready, so his must stay secured as well. That is, as they say, the courtesy of engagement. Instead, he nods with a half smile, keeping his silence and extending the note tucked between the pointing and middle fingers of his right hand.

[She reads it, an amused smile flickering on her face, before she bows slightly and, holding the door open, gestures him in.]

I was not expecting a visit, although this is not unwelcome at all.

[Thankfully, everything is clean - nothing but perfection for this sort of royalty, and because her only visitor is him (and perfection is a must in his presence, even at this age) - so she is not caught unprepared. The only remarkable thing is the improptu Potions table set next to the window.]

That's not the tea, unfortunately, but it can be made if you do prefer a cup.

[Dry, so dry. Though there is no masking the disgust or edge to her voice, either.]

Rats. Lovely.

[Pause.]

Your weasel hunt didn't go as planned, Bellatrix?

I'm curious. How exactly d'you expect to catch one? So far you've set out the wrong bait.

Should I refrain from stating the obvious? I have yet to see them inspire fear.

The fact that they're able to do these things at all would be enough, I should think.

Maybe not to inspire fear, exactly, but to inspire some care.

They inspire no more care than the other gods, all fiction.

From what I heard, I don't think they're meant to inspire fear.

Then what are they meant to inspire?

I don't know. I've only been here a few months.
