{Data Stream 8} - [SOS] - How to flag down a ship

Feb 12, 2009 17:50

[the TARDIS is standing in front of the ship, looking up at the wreckage through the rain]Recent sphere activity suggests we are not alone on this planet. If there are others nearby who are capable of rescuing us, we must garner their attention. I have seen several of you make attempts to do such. I wonder if we cannot cannibalise this ship to ( Read more... )

If we can find suitable, salvageable materials from the ship, we should. I certainly agree there.

I do not believe everything has been damaged, yet. It is simply a matter of finding it.

[remains silent for a long moment, thinking this plan over] I know, but...the ship is falling apart like everyone said. I fell through level 15 to level 14 only a few days ago and it's only gotten worse since then. If we were to do any kind of scavenging for parts, I say we start from the outside and remove panelling to get to everything underneath. Shouldn't require a trip into the ship proper, I would think.

I have been storing away bits and pieces of workable materials though since the crash, a few bits and bobs here and there--forgot to mention that--but not enough to create a working power source for a small vessel.

[frowns, but nods] Very well. We can do as you say. I would rather have access to the communication devices and sensor data from the bridge, but it seems that is an impossibility now.

It was getting pretty unstable when I left. I'm not very familiar with a lot of the technology in there, but if you know what you're looking for, I can make my way in there to get what you need.

I am looking for anything that still functions. Its original purpose is of little concern to me. I can make it do whatever I need it to do, providing I have sufficient materials.

That thing's about this close to completely going under, and all the water damage it's already got isn't going to make parts any easier to make use of.

We might still be able to work something out - it's just getting more tricky every minute.

I suspect most of the surface devices have been destroyed. There must be some that are deeper in the systems that are salvageable, however. It is simply a matter of pinpointing a location where I can find signs of life, as it were.

The ship's particularly precarious. I suggest asking for a volunteer from those with special travel arrangements, and use the sphere as a direct line to them in attempting to salvage your parts;

It is a possibility. I do not know any with such arrangements, however. Do you?

A few. Their willingness to cooperate is whimsical.

How terribly human.

That ship doesn't look like it's too safe anymore. You'd have to be suicidal to go back in there to fetch stuff.

I had no intention of going in myself, though I am certain I could survive.

I was talking generally, but fair enough.

Ah. Well, I do not much care if others are injured, so long as it is not my Doctor.
