[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]

Name: Shirley Fenette
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Fandom: Code Geass
Timeline: Pre stage 10, first season.
History: http://codegeass.wikia.com/wiki/Shirley_Fenette

Character Personality: At first glance, Shirley seems like a normal high school girl. And she is, for most intents and purposes - she’s more responsible and bright than many other students her age, but she goes to a normal school, and has (mostly) normal friends. She’s kind, even to strangers; we see this when she’s first approached by Mao and gently asked him if he needed help. Although many people in her country are frightened of the Japanese, called ’Elevens’ by the Brittanians, she doesn’t show any fear or ill will towards any of them, showing them an equal amount of compassion as she would anybody else. For example, when Suzaku started attending Ashford Academy, despite many of the students being scared of him, she went out of her way to be friendly towards him. Once she becomes more comfortable with a person, they’re able to see more of her personality. She’s easily embarrassed, and tends to get angry with the person that’s embarrassing her, although she always forgives them within a matter of seconds, particularly if it’s a friend. Though she’s easily embarrassed, she isn’t shy or very quiet; if you say something she doesn’t like, you’ll definitely hear about it. Even those who make her frustrated are those she considers her friends, however, so it’s not difficult to get close to her under the right circumstances.

She’s very idealistic, and has a strong sense of morality; it’s hard to justify killing or wrong deeds in her eyes, although she cares enough about her loved ones that she would forgive anything they could do (killing her father indirectly is an excellent example). She believes in the power of true love, and that most people are good - this may be why she reacts so negatively when she finds a person that is, without a doubt, amoral or corrupt in a huge way. The one thing that sets her apart from other normal girl - her friends. Although most of them are as normal as she is, two of them stand out: Lelouch Lamperouge and Suzaku Kururugi. Suzaku is a soldier in the military, even at the young age of seventeen, while Lelouch is the leader of a group of rebels called the Black Knights, fighting to bring down the Brittanian Empire, who unfairly took over the Japanese’s land, and greatly reduced their political and social status.

Shirley, while only friends with Suzaku, has been in love with Lelouch for years. Although she disliked him initially for his laziness and refusal to care about others (both traits she greatly dislikes in other people), she eventually changes her mind on him when she sees him saving another boy from some bullies. She cares so deeply about him that even after he indirectly killed her father, and she found out about it, she was unable to hurt him, or even hold back her feelings.

She’s much more vulnerable and insecure than she acts - when a man named Mao comes and chastises her about her about her relationship with Lelouch, she is easily tricked by his words, and ends up in a state that can almost be called brainwashed. She’s ready to kill Lelouch thanks to the man’s words - a man she has never met before in her life. She’s extremely naïve and gullible, which may have been part of the reason why she listened to him so easily. He was able to play up on her insecurities and fears easily, and convince her to do things that no doubt would have haunted her for the rest of her life.

She jumps to conclusions easily, particularly about her friends or especially Lelouch. She’s scared about his feelings regarding her, and generalizes about his relationship with other girls, because she’s somehow convinced that he won’t love her, and she shouldn’t tell him her feelings. Although she’s easily flustered and frustrated around her friends, she knows that she would do anything for any one of them, even give her life without any hesitation. She has an immense capacity for caring about other people - before she died, she tells Lelouch that all she wanted to do was ‘be the one thing true to him’, because the people around him had lied to him so frequently. Even though she didn’t have as much power as many others in the series, she told Rolo that she wanted to support him in any way she could, no matter the consequence. She’s killed because of these words, but instead of being frightened, she seems peaceful in her last moments, telling Lelouch she was glad she could see him in her final few moments of life.

She can seem spoiled sometimes, and a little self-centered; after the battle at Narita, she’s worrying over whether or not she should invite Lelouch to a concert, when Milly says “Your problems are so insignificant - the whole world’s talking about the incident at Narita.” To which Shirley replies “I know that, but I’m more concerned with Lulu!” More often than not, however, she sees her actions as more despicable than she really needs to interpret them as. When she kissed Lelouch after the death of her father, she views it as a selfish action, and remarks that it was wrong of her to do so. She also uses the excuse to run from her actions, as well - if she’s embarrassed by something, instead of confronting it, she’ll often choose to ignore it, or pretend the issue doesn’t exist. At least, that’s how she acts around friends; when she’s alone, she lets her mind wander and worries about it more than she really has to.

She dislikes people who don’t work hard, and people who only care about themselves - she also dislikes being made fun of, or teased in any way. She’s prone to shouting or raising her voice, and she blushes frequently. She can be extremely jealous when she thinks another girl is in a relationship with, or has fallen for Lelouch; she gets extremely upset when she even sees him around another girl, let alone doing something that looks suspicious. Even more than she dislikes people making fun of her, she dislikes people making fun of her friends or loved ones. It’s accurate to say that she cares about her friends more than herself. She even pretends to be happy sometimes to stop her friends from worrying, like during her father’s funeral. When she’s extremely distraught, however, she’ll either try to seek help or push people away in a much more obvious manner (such as when she shoots at Lelouch at the train station).

Character Abilities: She’s a talented athlete (a diver, in canon) but severely lacking in powers or abilities that are neither physical nor emotional; however, her emotional powers go above and beyond those of most people. She’s trusting, sweet, and kind, even towards strangers, and even sometimes towards people she dislikes. She has the ability to be responsible when the situation demands, and even when the situation doesn’t demand it, she’s a capable and intelligent individual. To an extent, she adapts to different situation easily, and she can handle stress well when she needs to- such as when she was trapped in a hostage situation, possibly about to be killed by terrorists.

Character Weaknesses: She’s far too trusting for her own good at times, and while she’s good at sports and physical activities, she’s very unskilled in using weaponry and fighting. She’s easily manipulated, and if you’re able to manipulate her, you can make her do horrible things. She’s prone to anger, and sometimes lashes out when people around her are only teasing or making jokes. She’s extremely insecure about her personality and the way she looks. She can be extremely stubborn sometimes, and when she makes her mind up about a situation, it can be difficult to make her see it from other points of view. She can be self-centered at times, unable to focus on anything but herself; although, if she’s told explicitly about someone else’s problems, she’ll do her best to help them.

[ MEISTER ONLY SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Meister: Although I think Shirley would definitely prefer to be a weapon, acting as what she would see as a form of support for a meister, this is one of the reasons I’ve chose to do the opposite and make her a meister. I think it would make for some interesting character development, and I’d like to see where it takes her in game. She’s also very athletic, so the physical strength and endurance necessary for a meister would already be there, as well as the focus and seriousness it takes for battle.

Meister Ability: Soul BFF - They will find it easier to connect with Weapons, and will have less trouble resonating than most.

Soul Derp - If resonation is strong between them and their weapon, they become less clumsy and more coordinated in a fight. However, should their resonation be off, they become unbalanced and far more of a klutz.

Soul Focus - When they wield a Weapon, the Weapon becomes more focused and far more accurate.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: Accepting, insecure, quick-tempered, weak-willed, naive, embarrassed.

[ SAMPLES ]

First Person: Um, I...

[She could start with how ridiculous this situation is, or how unlikely it is, or how it’s all a dream and she was bound to wake up from it soon and go about how day as per normal- but, then, that thought had probably occurred to everybody, hadn’t it? Well, at any rate, and introduction would be in order!]

Um, my name is Shirley Fenette! I’m not quite sure what’s happening, or how it happened, but it’s nice to meet all of you...?

Oh, would it be possible for me to talk to one of the people who can tell me whether I’m a weapon or a meister? I’d appreciate it.

Third Person: As she walked down the street, bags in hand, a group of people next to her, she couldn’t help but fantasize a bit. Sometimes it was difficult to get her head out of the clouds, particularly where a certain dark haired boy was concerned. She tried to make it as inconspicuous as she could, nodding her head and muttering a few words of agreement every once in a while, but suddenly, she looked around and saw her friends were all filing into a store.

“A-Ah, wait!” She called, hurrying in after them and trying not to trip in her haste. “Sorry, I guess I kind of got lost in my thoughts.” She clarified, trying not to turn red as she heard their laughter. “It’s not that funny... You don’t have to laugh!” She turned to an aisle of clothing, sorting through all the tops she didn’t want to try on before she found one and pulled it out, sizing it up against her body. “No, that’s no good...” She said, putting it back and sighing. She walked towards the group, looking at the floor. “I think I’m going to leave early...” Ignoring the requests for her to stay, she smiled and turned around, walking out the door.

Once she was out, she sighed again, brushing her hair away from her face as it blew wildly in the wind. Suddenly being thrust into a warzone, added onto the stress normal teenagers usually feel, sure wasn’t helping her mood these days. And then there were the feelings for a certain person that she couldn’t stop focusing on, no matter what she tried. “Lelouch...” She muttered, trying to focus on imagining him there- maybe then it really would be easier the next time she talked to him. “I love you, Lelouch! Wait, maybe- Lelouch, I feel like I... Lulu, I’ve always wanted to tell you that-” She stopped in the road, aware of how odd she must look to passerby, moving her mouth and talking to people who weren’t even there. It didn’t help that she was missing her friends, either. Neither did it help that she was conflicted over whether to fight or not. And it didn’t help that when she looked up-- wait, what?

Was the sun drooling?
