Look at the way you worded those two options. I think you'll find you've answered your own question.

Yes, but option A is somewhat less realistic. I mean, is it ever a smart idea to blackmail someone? Besides, I really don't have enough hard evidence against said department head to get any serious blackmail play. All I can do is say "I won't graduate unless you let me do X." Considering this is the same department head who made me have a nervous breakdown, will he really care if being stuck in this class is going to cost me my degree? Besides, being out of this shithole four months early is worth the hell of being in this class.
