While the library is not impressive by Rome's standards, there are still some interesting things to be found there. Of course, there are few books in Italian or Latin.. but I have always been good with language, so I am slowly picking up bits and pieces of this Oriental language.. Japanese, I believe? Yes, a zombie. There's less of those wandering around. The ones that scream to paralyze you are frightening, but weak. Just bring a weapon with you.

Cube! He's wonderful, though he's... usually not quite as tall as he is right now, what with his chip acting up.

Why are you wasting your time on learning languages? There is bound to be people here who can understand whatever language you speak.

Is it so easily dismissed? We are from other worlds, from all walks of life, from other times. We are human and inhuman. There is little binding us together, and we are--for better or worse--trapped here together in a hostile environment. It would be foolish to so easily dismiss one another when we all have so much to offer. Why should we be strangers if we are expected to survive together?

So yes, I would say that socializing, as you put it, is quite important.
