[There's a pause, and Abel turns the video on. Oh mai... Look at all that candy. It looks like it's pretty high quality candy too, given the wrappers and such. There's even the occasional cookie tossed into it, as well as a fine china tea pot and a package of tea]

It's like Christmas!

[ for a long moment, cesare is visibly stunned, eyes roaming over the pile as if he can't quite believe it. at last, though, he laughs, the sound just as shocked ]

Abel! I certainly hope there's no price! You'll be paying for that the rest of eternity!

[ he'd needed the laugh more than he realised. he was quickly beginning to see that abel was really good at that, appealing to the part of him that could still find amusement in things. though a rather odd man, abel was--

I don't trust the 'strange events' of this city. People are conveniently overlooking this one because it seems pleasant to most of them.

This sort of thing happens often, then? I'm afraid I haven't been here terribly long.

Mm, I suppose, but for the moment, everyone seems so very happy!

Once I realised they were coming true? I'm afraid not. I do not like being in anyone's debt.

Mm~ a risk you are not prepared to take? I suppose it's rather worrying, wondering if our mysterious benefactors will demand payment for their gifts.

It's not that, really. I simply don't like accepting gifts from strangers.

It's happened before several times with no known repercussions. Still, I believe you're right to be wary.

These sorts of gifts? Truly? My, at least I know to be wary from now on.

Yes, like I said, several times. Usually things from home or small necessities. Never to this scale.
