The Other Boleyn Girl

Sorry for the long radio silence, but we're finally back with another sporking! We know we announced "Ben Hur", but somehow we couldn't find the time to do a +3 hours epic, so it's Justin Chadwick's The Other Boleyn Girl instead since Tudor history is all the rage these days.

A few technical remarks before we start: We let this journal's paid ( Read more... )

Seeing you appear on my Friends page was the best thing to happen to me today! That was wonderful. I'm so glad you folks are back.

I haven't seen this movie, because I knew what to expect... but you have given me really, really good reasons not to bother.

*g* We live to serve ;)

Seriously though, it wasn't as bad as many other Tudor flicks we've seen (we're still traumatized from "The Golden Age", after all...), but there was plenty of stuff to spork...

You're back! Woohoo!

I remember skipping this movie due to three things:

1. Henry VIII's adventures are too complicated for a movie (especially a modern Hollywood movie)
2. It's based on a NOVEL based on history, so that's two levels of butchery
3. Scarlett and Natalie weren't going to take off their tops anyway

It's good to be back :)

*giggles* 1) and 2) are very valid points, and as for 3), since Scarlett Johansson's boobs barely fit into her corsets, that would probably have been a technical problem ;))

OMG, you guys are back! I've missed these so much!

And ow, oh god, I am suddenly SO GLAD I resisted the lure of pretty costumes and didn't see this movie. Good gracious.

Movie and TV makers of the world: The actual history of the Tudor family and their doings is PLENTY INTERESTING. Please, please, please stop messing this crap around and making it less interesting for the benefit of your weird hangups and a half-assed idea of what will appeal to audiences. Gah.

Aw, thank you! The costumes are indeed very well done, but as for the rest...

You're right, one should really think that the Tudors were interesting enough on their own!
