Thanks for extending the deadline - I think I'm going to need it!
Can I check I've got the procedure straight - we email the rough draft direct to you, and you then post a summary; the artists read the summaries, and choose which fic/s they want to illustrate - is that right? Do you then email them the drafts of those fics, or do they work just from the summaries? And do you want us to include a summary with the draft, or do you prefer to do that yourself?
No worries, these are very good questions. Summaries being included by yourselves with the rough drafts would be excellent, yes, and you send the rough drafts to me, the summaries are posted and then the artists pick their choices and they get emailed the rough drafts and base their work on them.
I must admit to having huge qualms about anyone reading my rough draft - even if it's just you and the prospective artist. But I'll have to try and not think about it! :)
Looking further down the line, I haven't got a beta yet, and don't really know how to go about getting one. Any suggestions?
To be honest I' a little worried as my draft is a Grade A mess. I know what I want it to be, it's just writing all the letters and journal entries. and weaving it into a narrative that people actually want to read.
Yes, I admit that I am starting to panic a bit. I'm not sure this story is going to be remotely done in 20k. Hell, I'm not sure that I'm going to get 20k into this story.
Sorry to be so Negative Nelly, but I feel a bit stressy.
Sorry I'm so late with this reply! I think panicking is a big part of all writing challenges, especially big bangs. Besides, it's not like history's the easiest thing to do! And I think doing too much research has managed to kill off my History Big Bang but hey. You can do this. You can all do this, and you might surprise yourself in the process :) And considering that the participants aren't a huge number, if the majority will still need extensions after the 8th of June, we can accommodate that. Just keep on going and bear in mind that a rough draft is indeed rough. As long as there is a bit of an overall plot to give the artist an idea of the main things going on, the big part of details and composition and organisation and such can be dealt with at a later time. Best of luck! Feel free to make a post and rant about it, I'm sure most of the other members feel much the same.
