character.
CHARACTER NAME: "Reki" Fujio
SERIES: Series wiki page, Reki's wiki page (note: I'm playing from the manga, not the anime; the two differ after a certain point.)
CANON POINT: end of series
AGE: lower twenties
APPEARANCE: the one with the robes and book, the blond one with the red robes

PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: n/a

PERSONALITY:

As expected of a professional, Reki is well mannered and polite. Or he was. That attitude of his changed the more time he spent working under Balmung, who he considers the toughest boss ever. Reki now is loud, opinionated, and not above mumbling his thoughts when something troubles him. He's not afraid of pointing out when people are out of line, irresponsible, or being just plain stupid. However, that doesn't mean that everything has to be done by the book. Those who stick to the rules when breaking them is more beneficial annoy Reki just as much. He'll also question his superior's actions even if they have the power to PK (player kill) him in a single thrust of a spear.

Loyalty is a deeply engrained trait within Reki, even if it appears that Reki does nothing but complain about someone on the surface. He doesn't exactly say that he cares outright. His actions speak for him, and how much he truly cares may surprise even the people closest to him. He'll do anything for those people, sacrificing his well being (which includes his reputation and his job) for them in the process. Hacking, data manipulation, eavesdropping, grabbing someone by the collar, and putting up with hosting ridiculous events are all something he'll do when it's for the sake of someone he admires. Reki knows that he may be a fool for following and supporting the crazed ideas of those he cares about. No matter how much Reki complains or threatens to quit his job, he knows that he won't leave. Somehow, he's gotten used to the abuse he has to put up with. It's hard to imagine his life without it.

If Reki is ever at a time when things are going well, he's relaxed, easy going, and seems a little bored. However, more likely than not, he'll be panicking in some exasperated fashion because events took a turn for the worse. Things never go as planned, and Reki is left cleaning up the mess. There are times when Reki looks back on his life and worries if the time he spent studying history was worth it. He couldn't find a job in the field, but he loves history and hopes it wasn't a waste of time. Because of that, Reki can't help to look up to people like Balmung, who chase and live their dreams.

Lastly, Reki is an extremely hard and dedicated worker who takes pride in his work. He'll get the job done to the best of his ability... and then says he's fed up with it all and wants to quit the next time a mountain of work or some idiotic event is dumped on him.

ABILITIES:

Like any Wavemaster from the World, Reki has access to a wide range of elemental, status, and healing spells. Wavemasters are the only class who can use Level Four Spells. However for the sake of brevity, power restrictions, and the fact that Reki is probably mid level, only Level One and Two Spells will be available and no summoning. This is a full list of spells Wavemasters from the World have access to.

Whether or not Reki fully knows how and when to use these spells in actual practice and not theory is another matter entirely. He's an admin, not necessarily a player of the World. Spell casting mishaps are likely. Reki has a Thunder Wave Symbol (the triangle mark under his eye), so a preference toward Thunder can be assumed.

Wavemaster Related Abilities:
  • Attack spells: drops on an area (Don): Earth (Gan, GiGan), Fire (Vak, GiVak), Thunder (Rai, MeRai), and Darkness (Ani, BiAni)
  • Attack spells: tornados around an area (Rom): Earth (Gan, MeGan), Water (Rue, MeRue), Fire (Vak, BiVak), Wood (Juk, BiJuk), and Thunder (Rai, GiRai)
  • Attack spells: raises underneath an area (Zot): Earth (Gan, GiGan), Water (Rue, MeRue), Wood (Juk, RaJuk), and Darkness (Ani, MeAni)
  • Attack spells: converges on a target (Kruz): Water (Rue, GiRue), Fire (Vak, GiVak), Wood (Juk, MeJuk), Thunder (Rai, MeRai), and Darkness (Ani, MeAni)
  • Healing a single unit (Repth, Ol Repth) or area (La Repth, Ola Repth)
  • Removing status changes of a single unit (Rip Teyn, Rip Synk)
  • Resurrecting someone from ghost status back to full health (Rip Maen), which will probably be downgraded to waking up lazy unconscious people
  • Strengthening spells: recovering over a set period of time (Rig): HP (Saem) and SP (Geam)
  • Strengthening spells: increase stats temporarily (Ap): speed (Do); physical strength, defense, accuracy (Corv, Vorv, Torv); magical strength, defense, accuracy (Corma, Vorma, Torma); area elemental attack Earth, Water, Fire, Wood, Thunder, Darkness (Ganz, Ruem, Vakz, Juka, Raio, Anid)
  • Weakening spells: status on target (Lei) Poison [HP] (Duk), Paralyze (Suvi), Charm (Miu), Sleep (Mumyn), Confuse (Ranki), and Curse [SP] (Maj)
  • Weakening spells: decrease stats temporarily (Dek): speed (Do); physical strength, defense, accuracy (Corv, Vorv, Torv); magical strength, defense, accuracy (Corma, Vorma, Torma); area elemental attack Earth, Water, Fire, Wood, Thunder, Darkness (Ganz, Ruem, Vakz, Juka, Raio, Anid)
(But we all know that weakening and status effects never stick or do anything to the enemies, so the last two can practically be ignored.)

Non-Wavemaster Related Abilities:
  • knowledge of various Earth histories
  • coding and manipulating data like creating a cherry blossom effect for a field
  • hacking like accessing and deleting files that are under a lot of security (This is in a system he knows well, so a foreign system will give him trouble until he becomes familiar with it.)
  • creating holographic touch screens that can display data and be used for communications
  • admin rights in the World (rendered useless due to not being in the World)
  • somehow being able to track down Balmung when he disappears

POSSESSIONS:
  • one red Wavemaster outfit
  • one large book that is used in his coding and admin duties, also used in place of a staff for attacks
  • mid level armor and weapons (can't have an admin avatar so easily PK'ed)
  • 5 HP/SP potions commonly found in shops in the World
  • 5 Speed Charms (temporarily increases speed) to help Reki find Balmung when he runs off

JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:

[There is one angry looking Wavemaster staring into the screen. He's tried all number of ways to log out, and none of them are working.]

This better not be some joke from Balmung... We have an event to plan.

All right, Kernos! I don't know how you hijacked my avatar or why you think I applied, but I don't have time to test your virtual reality game! I've got enough to worry about with the World! And if you think I'm about to help some rival product that's in beta... You haven't even advertised at all.

Log me out right now!

[He stomps the ground in frustration. Wait... this feels very real. Reki swears he can feel the rocky ground under his feet (not the worn, flat cushion of a computer chair) and a cool, salty ocean breeze blowing across his cheek. He couldn't feel his fingers at the keyboard or feel the weight of the headgear on his temples. This is a lot more real than any game should be, certainly more realistic than what he could experience in the World. Reki starts to look a little more worried than angry as a possibility dawns on him. What had he heard about the Twilight Incident?]

Am I in a coma?!

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: Already here with Ivan, not needed
