Summary:
Nick Jonas and the nasty.
A talk between two brothers.
A drabble. 534 Words.
Kevin Jonas blocked his little brother from getting through the other side of the door by leaning on it with his arms crossed and a stubborn expression. He had just pushed the younger boy into the stock room and told him roughly to sit down. His brother glared at him and told him to let him out. But honestly, nobody would be stupid enough to let him.
“Nick.” The single syllable was strong. Kevin stared at him with the parental stare he wasn’t supposed to have. It drilled holes into Nick, but he did his best to look like he was more angry than scared.
“What?” he asked, the annoyance in his voice.
“What’s wrong?” He asked it like he didn’t know. Nick was never the one for secrets. Especially from his brothers. Especially Kevin.
Nick shrugged and tried to make it look like nothing was wrong. He knew it wasn’t working. Within a second into his act, he dropped it all. The sadness finally showed fully in his face. He sighed and rubbed his temples.
“I don’t know what to do.” His voice was soft. “What am I supposed to do?”
Kevin rolled his eyes and finally pushed himself from the door. He walked to his brother and grasped his shoulder tightly before sitting across from him. He looked at Nick the way he always did when his brother got like this.
He gave Nick a comforting smile. But then: “Well, it isn’t my fault you keep on doing the nasty.”
Nick scoffed and batted Kevin’s arm away. “I hate you sometimes,” he muttered, burying his pale face into his sweaty palms. His stomach churned, making an unpleasant sound. He was so hungy.
“You should eat.” Kevin’s simple suggestion made the younger boy wince.
“I didn’t tonight for a reason.” Once a week, Nick was given steak for dinner. It was his favorite. The first time he did the nasty, as Kevin refers to it, he didn’t touch his steak. He just stared at it and told his mother he wasn’t feeling well when he was asked.
“Every time you do the nasty, you do this.” Kevin rolled his eyes and nudges Nick’s shoulder. “It’s stupid. Just because you do it doesn’t mean you have to starve yourself.”
“Why not?”
“You might get sick. Speaking of, did you get your shots yet?”
“No.” Nick was hoping nobody would remember so he wouldn’t have to do it that night. Kevin knew exactly what was on his mind.
“You can starve yourself, just not forget about this.” Kevin glared. Nick looked hopeful.
It was one of those rare moments of that day that Nick had a kind-of-smile. He looked up and smirked at his brother. “I can?”
Kevin looked surprised. He paused to think and he shifted through the thoughts in his head. Then he ended with one word: “No. I didn’t mean like that.”
“You should start meaning what you say. It really hurts my feelings.”
“Shut up and go eat something.” Kevin rolled his eyes and pushed his brother up from the chair. Nick groaned and straightened his polo shirt as he stood up mumbling that he wasn’t going to eat his steak.
