CHARACTER
Name: Ritsuka Aoyagi
Series: Loveless
Canon: AU based off of the doujinshi “Mimi to Boku” by series creator Yun Kouga
Age: 16 (DOB December 21st)
History: This version of Ritsuka had a some what easier life then his main stream counter part. He still has a absentee father, and a mother with a foul temper, but unlike his canon version, he never looses his memory, setting off his mother's extreme violent behavior. He grew up fairly happy and popular, doing all right in school. He was a friendly and out going child, with many friends, chief among them Yukio and Yayoi.

In 6th grade, Ritsuka spotted Soubi for the first time, or rather his tail. He immediately wanted it for himself, (and the ears to upon noticing them) and told Soubi so, mistaking him for a girl. Soubi promised to give them to him when he lost them. Some time later Ritsuka was informed by Yukio that Soubi was in fact a boy.

Meanwhile, a rumor was circulating that Soubi's ears and tail were in fact fake ( a sign that he had lost his virginity). Ritsuka hears this news with great joy, thinking only in terms that he can have the ears and the tail right now if they aren't real, and goes off to demand them of Soubi who relents, though they are in fact, real.

The two grew closer from then on, despite not being in the same class, and Ritsuka even turned his attention to his studies in an attempt to move up to class 1.

Around this time he was just learning that his elder brother Seimei was a Sacrifice, attending the Seven Moon's Academy. He went by the true name 'Beloved', and had found his Fighter, Nisei. Ritsuka, very close with Seimei, had not quite understood what that meant at the time, but always hoped that he too might have his own name, and a person meant just for him. Soubi too, was pat of this strange world, a Fighter, but he attended Seven Moons after normal class, and so Ritsuka was left ignorant to how it all worked.

In time he was summoned to Seven Moons, and his name revealed to be 'Loveless'. But no Fighter unit awaited him. He began training, but the Fighter never appeared. It Seimei who suggested the pairing of Loveless with the blank Fighter unit Soubi, and this was reluctantly agreed upon by Ritsu, Soubi's guardian and teacher.

Ritsuka's name is written down his chest, but he continually refused to write it on Soubi, willing to cut their strength in two rather than hurt him. This has become a regular fight between the two.

In highschool now, Ritsuka has found a greater balance between his social life and his studies, and quite enjoys his school work. His is a great lover of books and of photography, rarely seen without his camera.

When Seimei moved on, his mother became slightly more unstable, taking out her abuses on her younger son, and it is not uncommon to see Ritsuka in bandages, though he doesn't speak about it. As he's gotten older he still refuses to fight back against her, but spends more time out of the house, with his friends, with Soubi, or at Seven Moons.

Personality: Ritsuka is very personable and at times outgoing. As he's grown up he's quieted someone, and his lessons at home and at Seven Moons have made him a bit less trusting of people in general. He can be shy upon meeting new people, but quickly opens up to them. He is a fan of philosophy, and greatly enjoys looking at art. He is a very determined person, and will give something all he's got until his last breath if he wants it badly enough.

He can be very naive at times, and becomes shy very quickly in more intimate relationships. He has a quick temper, and is prone to snap though cools off very quickly. He prefers things to be simple and uncomplicated when possible, and anything that challenges this upsets him.

He is still getting to know and feel comfortable in his own skin. He cares more about what he and those he trust think of him then the views of the public at large. He doesn't care that most of the people in his classes have lost their ears all ready. In these things he is very self aware and confident, and won't be pushed in directions he doesn't wish to go.

Third-Person Sample:
Ritsuka glanced down at his cellphone, tail giving a slight twitch and ear flattening momentarily. He quickly typed out a simple return text- Can't tonight. Expecting a letter from Seimei., pocketing the phone and quickening his pace. He wanted to go, but Seimei had promised there would be a letter waiting for him. He would risk his mother's wild temper if it meant a letter from his brother.

He missed him terribly, and wished he would visit more often...even if seeing him meant seeing Nisei. He hated his brother's Fighter. He was lacking something, some emotion, some thing that Ritsuka could never quite place, but it made him uneasy to be around him. Of course, people said the same thing about Seimei. Ritsuka could never understand why.

He hurried home and flew to the mail tray, ear perked with excitement and then drooping upon finding it empty. But he had promised...

"Ritsuka?" His mother's voice sounded from the hallway and he froze, eyes darting to the stairs and then back to the door. He slipped back outside, a frown creasing his face, and then the cellphone vibrated again. He flipped it open with a curious look. You'll come. He smiled softly, the glow of the screen lighting up his face and he gave silent nod. Soubi knew him so well.

First-Person Sample Journal Post:

[Half a face appears on screen, blurry and obscured]
"-t is this? I think it's some kind of phone thing, I just don't know-"
[camera turns away and voice is somewhat obscured and muffled]
"-how it works. Wait there I- Soubi? I think I made it work." [camera turns round again, and this time a young man is in full view, smiling slightly, then looking confused]
"Okay, so...now what? Where is everybody? I don't underst- Yeah no, the red light is on, see? That means it's on doesn't it? Recording wha- oh-"
[blacks outs]
