Four months after I called it in to XBox support...

I can play my Live games offline again! Huzzah!

It is a happy thing, but /man/ how hard is it to change some numbers in a database?

Surprisingly hard. Xbox coded itself into a corner on this one -- they didn't anticipate the need to reassign content to a new home serial number. Which is insane, because the instant the red-ring scandal started up they should've realized this was a must-have feature and gotten to work on it immediately.

Yeah - I'd actually had this problem since 6 months after launch - I just didn't /notice/ it on the first swap-out because my roomie hadn't wanted to play any of the games I had.

After the second swap out, Rez didn't work right, so that was kinda frustrating.

I'm surprised they still don't have it fixed. Admittedly, they have it done better than the 'create another silver account, we give you points to repurchase everything, you repurchase everything on that account' fix they were using 6 months ago.
