I woke up on Tuesday, and went downstairs. I started talking to my mom, stretched, and felt something pop in my chest. Sure enough, I had trouble breathing and my chest started to hurt. I went to the ER and they confirmed my fear, my lung had collapsed again, and this time it not only meant the chest tube but surgery too ( Read more... )

Short and skinny of it, I had these blebs on my lung. They were originally explained to be airbubbles, but a more appropriate comparison would be blisters. Anyway, when one of these things busts, it causes undue pressure on the lung forcing it to collapse. The pop I felt in my chest was apparantly one of the larger ones breaking. The surgery was to remove them and sand down my lung to help it heal. Never say never, but this shouldn't happen again. I can only pray anyway.

You Stretched and POPPED your lung? How the hell do you do that??? what the hell? OMG... thank gods you're alive and well. What exactly did they do in surgery. My asthma has been bad since it's gotten cold. I just hope it does't settle and become pneumonia. FEH.

Feel better and HEAL! I command it. *hugs*

Well, like I said, when I stretched, one of the blisters popped, and the pressure made my lung collapse. In the surgery, they just went in arthoscopically and removed the blisters and then sanded down my lung. If everything works out, it shouldn't happen again. Thanks for the well wishes, I hope you feel better soon as well.
