U of Chicago: Actually, I've heard that the neighborhood is great!

And you're right, Notre Dame really isn't for everyone. It's such a tight school, and everyone I know that's gone there has LOVED it, but most of them REALLY REALLY wanted to go there, too.

I went to school on the west coast, so this is about as much help as I can be, unfortunately!

Yeah! Everyone I know who's gone to Notre Dame has loved it, but it was always the first choice school, there.

Well, hey, I'm U of C, dearie! You would do great here, and the neighborhood is not meh! It's just a don't-walk-alone-at-night-flashing-your-ipod-and-cell-phone-and-wads-of-money neighborhood, which sums up many.

Also, the guy who was my academic/personality rival for five years of middle/high school loves it at Swarthmore. U of C and Swarthmore have a sort of "many people have turned down one to go to the other" relationship. My impression is that the people at Swarthmore are slightly cooler/sluttier than the geeks at the U of C. However, the geeks at the U of C are 1000% more awesome!

Well, if I want to complain about neighborhoods, I really should mention Johns Hopkins'. Apparently, the death rate at Hopkins is higher than that of the military, and two or three students get shot every year. But that's Baltimore for you, I guess? Anyway, a lot of the schools I'm looking at seem to be in the same "tier" of colleges, if that makes any sense, so I'm not surprised that a lot of people applied to both.

My Princeton Review book says, of the geeks of U of C, "There aren't as many extremely strange and nerdy students as there have been in the past," and "A portion of the student body at the U of C [are] actually talented, cool, and (gasp!) attractive." It does seem to have a reputation for being a nerd school, heh.

Swarthmore, for the record: "... a little bit of a nerd in every one of us - much more in some than in others."

I looked at U of C! I'm not into the city, but the facilities and stuff looked amazing. I was looking at art programs but yes, they had some cool stuff.

AND one of my bffs goes to Swarthmore and adoooores it. She's in Literature and Spanish or Linguistics or something. A very very liberal campus, I remember she said that the whole place was all depressed after the election (in contrast to mine which was all WEE and I was like *sigh*) Uh... I don't really know what else to tell you other than, you sound like her in terms of college interests, so yeah, you'd probably be happy there. I've heard good things from my cousin about Middlebury too.

And randomly, my uncle's an architecture prof at Cornell. XD

Notre Dame got SLAUGHTERED today by UMich in football.

They're not in any football conference. This is so they can get expensive contracts with other schools of their choosing and not be forced to play conference schools.

Their football contract with UMich runs out in either 2009 or 2011 and they will not be renewing it.

I had a friend who worked in South Bend in the summers.

MSU planted a flag in their field a few years ago when we beat them in football and it caused Issues and we were forced to give an Apology.

Apparently their football team SUCKS this year which is evident by today's game.

I really wish the game had been 0-0 because that would mean neither team won.

this is not helpful to you in any way.

No, not really. But it made me giggle.

(I have been able to sing the entire Fight Song since I was four, alright?)
