Finally! A post about my Hiroshima/Miyajima trip with andrewdeluxe. Be warned, this is a pretty shitty type up. Quite the quick and dirty version of a great vacation! ^_^; But hey, there are a few pics up, so without further ado…

"Umm...after going the WRONG WAY thanks to someone's suggestion (his name starts with "A"), we decided to cut our losses short and hailed a taxi. (And it should also be said that I was "The Navigator" for the rest of the weekend! And for good reason..)"

Boy, do I remember things DIFFERENTLY!!!

Heh. I wonder if you guys stayed in the same Ryokan that my friends and I did when we were in Hiroshima. We had a lot of fun wandering around looking at random temples and such in Hiroshima, since it was the first real stop in our vacation there. Having Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki was definitely interesting... moreso for me since it involves lots of bonito, and I'm far from a fan of fish-based foods.

The entirety of the a-bomb park/museum/dome definitely had quite an impact- probably most so the mind-boggling collection of paper cranes. I think it may have hit some of us there a bit harder than others given that several of us were engineers and full well realized that down the line we could well be dealing with things even more destructive than that first a-bomb. The museum itself was fairly tastefully done- but as we heard it things had been updated since its initial opening. Initially it was apparently far more slanted against the Americans as opposed to the somewhat more factual presentation there now.

Reminds me of when Ben and I visited Dachau (sp?) A concetration camp in Germany. Everyone just got really depressed for the whole day.
