“Yo! Yama-chan. Ohayou~” Chinen and Yuto greeted and Yamada made his
way to his seat. Yamada was still yawning because his mother made him
wake up earlier than usual for an unknown reason.
Then, two girls knocked and entered the classroom with brightly
coloured wrapped gifts behind their backs. They approached Yamada with
shy smiles on their face. Miharu was there too so she was wandering what
were they up to.
“Otanjoubi Omedetou!” the girls greeted and gave Yamada the gifts and
left the classroom. Afterwards, the whole classroom went into silence.
“How lucky of you ne. During our birthdays, rarely such courageous
girls will greet us personally~” said Ryutaro with envy on his face.
“Hmm… I guess I’m lucky? Haha” Yamada added.
“Eh? Today is Yama-chan’s birthday?!” Ayumu question and Kumiko nodded as an answer.
“EH?!!?!?! What day is it today?” Ayumu continued.
“9th of May” Chibi-chan replied. Miharu was still in a state of
horror because she didn’t actually knew that today was Yamada’s
birthday.
“Yup! It’s my birthday alright. Come on~ Presents anyone? Haha Just
joking~ Just by receiving smiles from my friends are great enough,” he
chuckled. Then Ayumu whispered to Miharu, “So? Even though he said that
you will still think of what to give him right?”
Miharu thought for a few seconds and finally nodded, “Yeah… I’ll try to think of a present for him. So, accompany me later!”
Ayumu gave her an ‘OK’ sign.
Then, Yuto gathered up everyone except Yamada around.
“Ne, Ne, Want to celebrate Yama-chan’s birthday tonight? We can go
to our usual café hangout area~” he suggested. Not long after that,
everyone agreed! And accidentally they shouted which made the whole
class to stare at them. They just shrugged it off with a few smiles.
“Ne, Yama-chan~ Tonight. Let’s hang out at the usual café. Is it okay
with you?” Chinen managed to ask Yamada before the teacher entered the
class. And Yamada managed to nod.
“yatta! Now all we need to do is inform the BEST members!” said Yuto
under his breath. “Also, we need to tell Yama-chan’s parents too! Since
we’re taking him for the night,” added Keito.
-Break-
“Jyaa~ Both Miharu and I will go and tell the BEST about this
matter,” Ayumu informed them before leaving the class. Then off they go!
While walking they continued their conversation.
“So? What have you decided? Last time he bought you a gown. Don’t
tell me this time you’re giving him a Tuxedo!?!?” Ayumu then received a
whack on the head by Miharu.
“Don’t joke around. I was thinking of giving him a bracelet or a wristband,” Miharu said.
Ayumu just made the sound, ‘Hmm…’ and keep nodding her head. Soon, they reached the BEST’s class.
“Yabu~ Someone is calling for you~” a girl shouted after she talked
with Ayumu and Miharu. The girl sounded irritated but both Ayumu and
Miharu ignored that and informed Yabu to tell the others about the party
since he’s the only one in class.
“The usual café, tonight, Roger!” he managed to give a
salute(childishly) before get back doing whatever that he was doing
earlier on.
-That Night-
“Jyaa, Kaa-san, itekimasu!” Yamada told her mother about the party
and his mother agreed to let him go. So do his father. Before Yamada
could leave, his mother whispered, “Have fun with them and your
girlfriend too, Okay?”
“EH?! Mom~!” Yamada blushed madly. His mother just chuckle... and
finally Yamada left and headed to the café. While walking, he was
thinking
‘I wonder what Miharu is going to give me~?’
‘Can’t wait!’
‘Now I just realized, what happened to Yamashita-senpai?’
10 minutes walk and he finally reached the café and once he opened
the door, confetti were popped everywhere. There’s even a banner saying,
‘Happy Birthday to our Buta-chan!’
“Happy Birthday!” everyone greeted me. It’s quite rare for everyone
to gather in this café. Usually, there will be at least 3-4 people
absent.
“Arigatou minna, but still! There’s no such need for ‘Buta-chan’ isn’t it!?” Yamada said while pretending to be offended.
“Maa~Maa~ Let’s enjoy for the night okay? Everyone here got presents
for you. I know you’ll be expecting a lot of gifts, Okay, Sit down.”
Yuto brought Yamada to his seat and made him sat down.
Then, lots of presents were shoved right in front of him which made him surprised instantaneously.
“Eh~? There’s so much!!!” Yamada couldn’t find any more words to
describe his feelings… he was absolutely overwhelmed and he was too
happy that small droplets of tears form in his eye.
Ren then started to tease him, “Uwaah! Yama-chan is crying! Miharu-chan~~ Please comfort our buta-chan!!”
“Hey! I’m not crying!!” he fought back while rubbing off the tears. Deep inside his heart, he kept muttering to himself.
Arigatou minna…
I’m grateful to have friends like you guys!
Everyone started laughing. One by one, Yamada unwrapped those
colouful gifts available in front of him. Every box of gifts surprised
and enlightened him. Especially the gift from Miharu, it’s a bracelet
with his favourite colour! He instantly wore him and it’s quite
comfortable.
Then the café door swung opened.
“Yamashita-senpai! You made it!” Ayane exclaimed happily.
Immediately, Yamada realized that she was the one that invited him here.
“Kamenashi-senpai couldn’t make it?” Maye who was following behind
Ayane asked him. Yamashita answered it with a simple smile.
“Happy Birthday,” Yamashita greeted Yamada as he handed out a gift to
him. Yamada thanked him and accepted the gift. He opened it. A BOX FULL
OF STRAWBERRIES!!!
“EH!?!?! ICHIGO?!?!” Yamada was definitely flabbergasted with all
that yummy, delicious strawberries were within his grasp. He felt like
he wanted to eat all of it…
Yamashita then chuckled, “Haha… Both Kame-chan and I predicted your
reaction. Happy Birthday,” He patted and ruffled Yamada’s hair.
Chinen and Chibi-chan were gaping at the box.
“Strawberries…”
“Hahaa… You people are so fun to hang out with! But sadly, I need to
go… I have a photo shoot….” Yamashita said with a bit of a disappointed
face.
“Eh? At night? Wow, you must be busy,” Takaki commented yet amazed on how hardworking Yamashita is.
“Yup~ catch you guys next time.” Yamashita smiled but Yamada had a feeling that the smile was meant for … Miharu.
After Yamashita left, everyone gathered around Yamada who was still
holding the box full of strawberries. It still amazed them. Suddenly,
Keito came out from somewhere with a strawberry ice-cream cake on his
hand. He was walking carefully; preventing any spillage of the cake
which might ruin the WHOLE atmosphere.
Of course, everyone started clapping their hands and sang the original ‘Happy Birthday’ song!
“Yatta! My favourite cake!!” Yamada exclaimed happily.
Once the cake reached to the table and the song ended, Yamada blew
the candles in an instant. Everyone cheered and started eating the
stuffs that Yamada’s parents had prepared for them. Both Miharu and
Ayumu were beside Ren while eating, they both then just found out that
Ren always wears a wristband on her left wrist, they both curious about
it so they asked Ren about it.
“Wow, you two are quite observant, no one had ever commented on it.
You two were the first.” Ren laughed. Miharu and Ayumu looked at each
other then back to Ren. “Actually-”
“Ah! Ren~ How nice of you to wear the wristband that I bought for
you~” Yuto said sarcastically. At that moment, both Miharu and Ayumu
could swear that they saw a vein popped out on Ren’s forehead, although
it’s quite vague and instant.
Ren then smile and said, “Yeah~ Glad that you realize it. Actually, I
wanted to throw it. But my mom insisted of letting me using it to
cover-” Ren stopped. Due to both of Miharu and Ayumu’s keen ears, they
could sense a bit of guilt in Ren’s voice.
“Eh?” Yuto wanted to ask Ren to repeat but then suddenly, Ryutaro
approached him and asked him to help to gather people around at a place.
Yuto wanted to question more but sadly Ryutaro left before he could
ask.
After everyone was gathered around and sat down. Maye was the first to speak up. “So? Reason for being gathered?”
“Simple~ We’re going to play a simple and I think none of you would want to play,” Ryutaro said teasingly.
“What is it? Don’t tell me that we’re going to have a ghost story
telling contest?!” Ayane wanted to confirm. She was excited especially
in these kinds of stuffs.
“Nope~ Truth, Dare or Lie.” Daiki answered since he was also the one
who agreed to play this with Ryutaro. Almost everyone gaped at him.
“HA..I~??? You want us to play that childish game?” Takaki said. He
seems to be have a lot of objections on playing the game. Surprisingly,
only he and Yamada disagree but majority rules so… let the game begin!
[The seating arrangement: Imagine you enter a store and choose the
round table in the right end of the shop. From the right side of the
table, starting from the one that is inside, Miharu, Ayumu, Daiki,
Takaki, Yabu, Maye, Ayane, Yuna, Hikaru, Yuto, Ren, Keito, Eri, Kumiko,
Ryutaro, Chinen, Chibi-chan, Kaori, Inoo and Yamada.]
“Ah~ we just have to use the bottle as the spinner. Also, to make the
game more fun, everyone here must! MUST do what that is told and tell
the TRUTH!” Ryutaro took the nearest bottle and placed it in the middle
while emphasizing the word ‘MUST!’. “Who will be the spinner?” he asked
then Kaori raised her hand and said she wants to be the spinner. And so
she shall be.
“The first victim is ~ Yuna!!” exclaimed Hikaru; he wanted to bully
Yuna a little. “So? What’s your choice? The Truth? Dare? Or lie~?!
Choice is yours~”
“Hikaru, please stop being so dramatic or I won’t be able to choose!”
Yuna said while laughing at Hikaru. After letting her to settle down,
everyone looked at her (surprisingly, both Yamada and Takaki too),
waiting for her answer.
Finally she answered. “My choice is …. Lie.”
“Hmm… The person on the left will be giving the question,” informed
Ryutaro. And the person which was sitting beside Yuna was Ayane.
“Eh~ Let me see… Do you like the person beside you… Sitting on your right,” Ayane asked with a smirk (not a bad one)
“NO! I HATE HIM SOOO MUCH! I don’t even want to see his face ever…”
Yuna exclaimed which at first shocked Hikaru to the max. Until, Yuto
told him that everything that Yuna said is the complete opposite since
she had chose, Lie. You have to lie.
“So, when you retranslate it, it means~?” Yuto let Hikaru think of
the rest. Once Hikaru got the idea, he was in cloud nine… or maybe cloud
10?
“Next……. Yay! Ren!” Kaori articulated happily and let Hikaru do the honours of asking. “… So? Your choice?”
“Truth.” Ren said. Coincidentally, Yuto was the one had to ask Ren a
question of Truth. Yuto gave a long thought in his mind and finally
decided to asked, “Why do you use that wristband that I gave, which I
never seen you took it off, not even once!”
Suddenly, the situation seems quite heavy.
“*sigh* I guess I have to let the cat out of the bag?” Ren sighed as
she took off the wristband from her left hand. Once it’s been removed, a
scar was seen, it was about 5cm long and slanted a bit to the side.
“What happened?!?” All of them were utterly shocked. Ren just smiled
and answered, “It’s was just an accident actually. I ACCIDENTALLY slit
my left wrist with a scissor. It was just an accident! Then, my mom told
me that I was in coma for about a month which was the reason why last
time I was absent from school. Then, my mom said that I should hide it.
At that time, you gave me the wristband. Therefore, I use it and I do
take it off from time to time,”
“Ah~ I still remember that time! Yuto was so worried about you at
that moment. Almost every day he visited you in the hospital,” Keito
blurted out which then Yuto covered his mouth to prevent any further
spillage of information.
Ren was surprised she didn’t know that Yuto was actually worried. Somehow, she feels happy and smiled.
The game was fun and they continued on until the café door was pushed
by a girl that Maye wished that she would have NEVER see her ever
again. Not even in the afterlife.
“Kanna,” Maye managed to utter even with the complete shock that she
received. The girl that she called turned to see who was actually
calling her. She looked quite surprised too and after that she made a
sad face while articulating, “Maye…”
Yabu knew who that girl known as Kanna.
That girl was the one that betrayed Maye.
