In my absence from LJ posting, these things have happened:

+ World Cup 2010 has kicked off and is now well into the quarterfinals. I'm so proud of what NZ accomplished in the group stages - we went out unbeaten AND finished on top of Italy in the table. Our first group match against Slovakia was a draw, 1-1, the single goal coming from a last gasp

Book recs, have you read anything by Paulo Coelho? I recently read "The Alchemist" and was completely blown away by it. I mean, seriously. No other book has ever affected me the way it did. It's a different kind of coming-of-age story, though, but it's definitely about learning who you are and finding your place in the world.

Also, Kurt Vonnegut is so in right now when it comes to the books I read, so anything by him is highly recommended (he has a lot of very interesting non-fiction). ♥

I was soo gutted that we couldn't get that goal. But it was a great result nonetheless. NZ has been far too pessimistic about our chances for anything... thanks a lot, rugby. Hopefully football gets some really good long-term exposure and more Kiwi boys in the European leagues.

No, I haven't heard of Paulo Coelho, but I just Wiki'd "The Alchemist" and it sounds great. Definitely going onto the book list. Ooh I forgot about Kurt Vonnegut (is that possible?), must be because I'm trying to forget about CM?? (I'm so lying, that show is going to break my heart all over again come season 6.)
