So, NZ Women's U-20 lost to Korea DPR 2-1 yesterday.  I didn't get to watch it because our Sky Sports subscription has expired and we're not renewing it because there's no more football.  I say there's no more football because Sky Sports NZ is only showing the games that NZ is playing and it doesn't look as though they've scheduled the final or ( Read more... )

It's not that I think the world should impose freedom on North Korea (because I think that's what you're getting from my post). But I think North Korea takes away the freedom of North Koreans by being so regimented in their way of living. Their infrastructure is terrible -- hospitals and basic healthcare is practically unavailable to the common person even though it's "free" -- how can you provide a service when you can't run your hospitals with decent equipment? And the Cult of Personality is inscrutable -- like, do they all actually love Kim Jong-Il or are they just scared to death? I watched this documentary last year (unfortunately I don't remember the name) and the guards at the borders had to watch each other so they didn't try to cross, and if someone snuck out their family would be killed. It just doesn't sound decent at all, I don't care about freedom and imposition but it's just basic human rights that they don't seem to have. A lot is presented by the media and that's obviously biased but that's what I see and that's ( ... )

Huh. I hadn't looked at it that way, that's interesting. I do wonder, though, what happens when they lose? The secrecy is unsettling... I wonder if Kim Jong-Il has reasonable expectations or just wants wins all the time.
