Pere Lachaise pictures

pouikysland was in Paris today. We met up near the Pere Lachaise for a walk there and catch up since the last time we'd met.

Praying figure

Annoyingly, the sun, though hidden by clouds, was behind the grave. Which made it difficult to photograph. Hence the bad contrast and colors.

Handsome angel

Too bad for the light again

A woman writing an epitaph

... I need to change of camera. This one is getting tired.

Triangular tomb?

Did they bury a tripd from War of Worlds here?

A bit damaged, but pretty...

So I had to take her more closely

... a bit creepy

Because with the bars, it looks like a baby bed o_O
and it's a baby angel on it.

Nice pattern

Mrs Peabody's grave

Very XIXth Century American clothes.

Prometheus, by the look of it

The man in the grave died in 1942. No idea who that was.

A funny to end...

It's funny for the name on the green plastic cover.

Lecreux Frères

It could be translated as "Thehollow Brothers". It sounds out of a Terry Pratchett book.

We were wondering what language / alphabet it is?

And this one?

BTW, i can't have been Ava Gardner's tombstone we saw. She was born on 24 December 1922 and dead on 25 January 1990.
