Nope, the point is not to tell the producers what is best for them... The point is to let the company know that there are fans who couldn't care less about one more shitty interview, and would like it better if the band was allowed to develop as a normal band, instead of as a one-hit wonder that has to be milked while it lasts.

Ya know, taking time in between tours to record new songs and, well, live things to write about. Instead of packing up promo and gigs in places they've already made concerts in 6 months before.

Because so far, all of the fan pressure goes towards asking them to do more gigs, more autographs, more everything.

I got that from the text, but then the campaign is called Operation Rescue Billy? Save Billy?

So that sort of implies he needs saving by fans... which... yeah.

The name is a pun on the French title of "Free Willy".
It's not meant to be taken literally.
