Birthday a couple a weeks ago. Went for curry, which was good, and
ickle_tayto gave me racing nuns! Utterly irreverent and brilliant!
I finally managed to get Irish broadband to send me a new wireless modem. This didn't seem to fix the problem with my connection, but it turns out that they forgot to register the new modem on their network. Fuckwits. Connection isn't brilliant, but it now only seems to take 5 or 10 minutes to re-establish a connection after random fuckups, rather than a couple of hours.
L knitted me a big-ass hat. It's cool: black and red and stripy.
I dragged my lazy ass out to Dominion on Saturday, for the first time in ages. It was good to see people again, particularly
gothicfurby, whom I have not seen in quite some time.
And, finally, an engineer turned up yesterday to reinstall the E-scope (which I've decided to rename "Micksbane"). It still doesn't work. In fact, it looks worse than before. And I didn't even touch it this time, so it's not me! So, I am thoroughly vindicated ... which was the point in my refusing to touch the damn thing when it came back, and insisting that the manufacturer send out one of their engineers to do the installation and testing. Heh. The engineer is pretty sound, and quite pissed off with the whole thing. I don't rightly give a fuck about it any more, and I've recommended that the next time it goes back to the factory (which will probably be this week), that it should stay there for good. Hah!
If you work with AFM at all, then never, ever buy an E-scope ... unless it's dirt cheap and all you're after is either scrap metal or the half-decent optics.
