After a Sat. of tailgating and football, yes my alma mater won, I spent Sun. and today volunteering with the over 7500 hurricane evacuees that have come to a base in our town to stay. Co workers and I were asked to go to the base and help with the families that were registering.  It was one of the saddest experiences I have had,  people with ( Read more... )

Well, I thank you for being in a place where you could be of some real help and actually doing it! That had to be difficult and just plain heart-breaking. It's kind of like the medical profession. I don't think I'd be very good at either. I would not be able to separate myself & I'd be wanting to take everyone home. I have tremendous admiration for those who have the qualities it takes to do what you do. Well done! I'm sure your kindness made a big difference.

It is heartbreaking, and it good to see so many people pull together when something so tragic happens. Thank you for the kind words :)

my team won too! and i got sunburned :-( but i still had fun :)

good for you, helping all those people. i'm sure it's hard emotionally, but you're being such a positive influence in their lives at a time when nothing else is positive, so it's worth it! and karma will come back and reward you :)

Yeah! for our teams and the fun of tailgating, makes my Saturdays in fall.
All the hard work this weekend was worth it and made me feel pretty good.
Waiting around for the karma to come around to me *waits*

I know how it feels, I used to do volunteer work at a kids hospital in the section with pacients recovering or about to get a surgery and it was hard, especially because you knew some weren't going to make it. But in the end you know that all they need is for you to be there, even if you can't do anything for them, what they need is someone to be there for them and hear them and talk to them and get them through all this.

That was the worst for me working with the children, but I am glad I went and did what I could to help.
