742nd "Annual" Hogwarts Reunion

Nov 11, 2013 20:23

Muggles were funny sorts - always congregating on the 5th or the 10th, perhaps finishing off on the 50th and then what? Well, typically they died. Muggles didn't live very long, did they? Anyway. Hogwarts just did not function in that way. The reunions were sporadic - each Headmaster or Headmistress choosing a year they felt was right to invite all ( Read more... )

It had been a long time since Lavender entered through the large, heavy doors of Hogwarts. She remembered how excited she was her first time walking through the entry way, filled with so much hope and joy. The years went by much faster than she ever though they would. From her awkward younger years, to those final moments before graduation. She left here last heartbroken and searching for a new beginning. And she had found it ( ... )

There was something strange about standing in the Great Hall at Hogwarts. He kept expecting Professor Flitwick to come yelling at him about some random rule he'd broken, some minor infraction that was always a step away from getting him suspended from the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.

It had been so long, though, that Roger also found himself wondering what his daughter was going to think when she first stepped foot in this very room a few years from now.

Shaking his head as he realized how much time had passed and exactly how much his life had changed, Roger laughed and turned to grab a drink. He snatched one quickly and turned, stumbling when his shoulder connected with someone he didn't expect.

"Bloody hell." Roger laughed. He was a profession Quidditch player for Merlin's sake; he should have better instincts. "Sorry. I didn't slosh any on you did... I?" His sentence trailed off toward the end and there was nothing he could do to stop it once he realize who he was looking at.

Lavender stumbled forward, her drink spilling out of her glass. She quickly steadied herself, noticing the stains of her new suede maroon pumps. These were her gift to herself after her latest promotion.

"No, not these!" she hissed, whipping around. But then her hear skipped a beat and her eyes went wide. After only ten minutes somehow they already bumped into each other?

"Don't....worry about it..." she managed.

"Sorry." Roger cleared his throat and glanced away briefly. Closing his eyes briefly, Roger turned back to her with one of his most charming smiles; it was well-practiced for all situations.

"I botched your shoes up, didn't I?" He shrugged. "I'll replace them? Or... something?" Of all the people to run into, he hadn't even imagined Lavender would be here. She never seemed to be around anymore and hadn't been for years. He was definitely going to have to have words with her brother; he was slacking in the friend department lately.

It felt awfully strange to be standing in the middle of the Great Hall, drink in hand and dressed in a rather fancy set of dress robes when she knew that she would be teaching in the very same castle the next day. If Marlow had only known she would be spending her career in the same school she spent her adolescence, perhaps she would have taken a very long and very foreign vacation in between. She brought the goblet to her lips, her eyes fluttering shut slightly as the cinnamon hit her tongue. She still had seventeen rolls of parchment to grade, due the next morning.

But then, she had a feeling her students wouldn't call out her misstep if she chose to prolong the return until the following day.

Especially when she knew that at least three were carbon copies of the same essay.

She pursed her lips in amusement as she scanned the crowd, her eyes searching momentarily for Riley. He never was when she expected him to be.

Marlow was about to step past a group of older wizards when someone nudged her shoulder.

"S'just me," Riley O'Dannihugh was beaming as he loomed down over Marlow. In his hands were two goblets, both emitting a thick, golden smoke that seemed wind around itself as it filled the air over they're heads, "I was under the impression that you'd have ceased your consistent nursing of that beverage, so I brought you another. Clearly, I was mistaken."

Riley raised both glasses, clinked them together, and proceeded to take a sip from each, "I'll also have you know that if this is a trick to get me good and fluttered, it won't work. I shan't go home with you, for I am simply not that kind of girl."

However, it seemed like Parvati Patil was. When Riley had made the trip to the refreshment table, the Gryffindor Alum had wrapped her arm around him, sloshing a sticky, dark liquid down the back of his new dark green dress robes. She'd reached up to ruffle his hair, whispered some slurred secrets into his ear, then scuttled off. Some people, Riley thought, definitely peeked at Hogwarts.

"You actually are that kind of girl," she told him, her voice matter of fact. "Though, I suppose I find your denial rather charming."

The smoke from the drink wafted closer to her face and hit her directly in the eyes causing her to blink. She brushed the smoke out of her direction as she wrinkled her nose. Though now, as she looked down at the pumpkin juice in her hand, it did look startlingly mundane. She chewed on her bottom lip as she set it down on the table beside her and held out her hand for whatever it was Riley was now drinking. She supposed she could whip up a quick hangover cure in the morning if things really did get that bad.

"I'm not sure what you've managed to whip up but if you're going down, I ought to be there with you," she continued before she caught sight of his robes. "Did you roll around in the whiskey vat or just fall in?"

Riley reached behind him, fingertips brushing the damn, sticky spot between his shoulder blades. He sighed, "Worse than I had previously believed. Fix it, will you?"

He turned, exposing the back of his robes to Marlow. While he allowed her a moment to work her magic, he scanned the crowd for familiar faces-- or at least, faces he actually cared to stay familiar with, "it's one of your pals that's done in. A Patil. Genuinely couldn't tell you which one."

He hadn't exactly planned on coming back quite so soon after graduation, but Daphne had wanted to come. She was all about parties, especially with her job, and it wouldn't be right for her to miss one of this caliber. He wondered how many of her friends would be actually be here. He was getting on better with most of them, especially with the war over, but it was still sort of uncomfortable as they all had that special something with each other-- that Slytherin bond that developed long before Hogwarts. He figured it was while they were all toddling around in diapers.

But then again, his associates at work were coming, along with his boss, and that's how Daphne had really won the debate. How would it look if you weren't there? She was right of course ( ... )

Daphne loved attending events that weren't her's. If they were bad, she could slip her card to the host for their next event. If they were good, she could at least get inspired by a few details. Really, it was a win/win. And with Hogwarts throwing the event, she was sure it would be spectacular.

"You're going to make such a great impression," she whispered to Terry, squeezing his hand tighter as they entered. It was no secret that Terry always made an impression but there weren't as many opportunities for him to show her off.

He gave her hand a squeeze back. It didn't hurt having his gorgeous girlfriend on his arm. She always gave him a boost of confidence.

Terry's eyes searched her face, seeing how happy she was to be here. "So will you... do you have your business cards on you?" He gave her a little wink. "This is an excellent place for you to network." He couldn't be prouder of the success Daphne was having. He would love for her to find some new clients tonight.

"Look at us...always looking out for each other's careers," she purred, smiling up at him. "Of course, I did."

Daphne pulled him over towards the bar and pulled two glasses of champagne for them immediately. It felt very strange to be drinking so openly after so many years of sneaking bottles into the common room.

"Do you remember our first dance here together?" Daphne asked, looking around.

Pansy was always up for a good party. The Minister and his wife weren't interested in showing up-- too much face time with the general public and not enough good press coverage for them-- but they Pansy had the night off and took advantage of it. Besides, it would be good to see (and brag to) some of her old classmates. It had been too long, and a lot of them had left after the war.

Not seeing anyone she knew right away, Pansy made a beeline to the bar, figuring there wasn't a better place to start.

Cecilia had made her start at the bar as well. She had half a mind to leave quite honestly. Hogwarts never did hold much of a happy memory for her these days. Not when she remembered the war that had gone down right here, in the exact room she was standing in. She took another sip from the mulled wine she held in her hand, before swirling it slightly. She stood there, dressed in soft pink dress robes and sparkling platform heels looking as impeccable as ever. It wasn't in her nature not to but in her best effort.

When she saw Pansy approach - a classmate she certainly hadn't seen in years - she found herself a excited to see her.

While they might have had their moments in school, Cecilia always held a warm regard for her.

"Well, well, well," she mused. "I knew I'd find more familiar faces around the bar than out there-" she gestured toward the crowd. "How are you Pansy?"

"Cessy!" Pansy exclaimed, sweeping her robes across the floor to move towards her old housemate. She gave her a kiss on the cheek, before following up with the age old question, "How have you been, dear?"

Pansy had always been slightly jealous of the relationships Cecilia had had with Draco and Daphne, but with her recent accomplishments she felt not in the least bit jealous and more excited to be able to name drop.

Cecilia followed suit with the cheek kiss - a typical greeting among their crowd. She couldn't help but smile brightly, though, as the two leaned in to say hello. It certainly felt as if time had not passed. Especially when she noticed just how fantastic Pansy really looked.

"Just as busy as ever, it seems," she said, before taking another sip from her glass. "The hospital is as understaffed as always."

She eyed her friend, noticing the excitement hovering around her.

"And you? I've been hearing your name here and there lately. What have you gotten yourself into?"

Maeve was meant to be just enjoying herself. Somehow she had got the night off work, as well as the next day, Lily was with family, and she was back in the place that held some of her best memories from before her daughter was born. It was a little odd to be back though. Lasdt time she had stood in this hall she had been freaking out about the direction her life was taking, pregnant before she even graduated school. It felt like just yesterday and yet things had come so far since then.

"What would our 18 year old selves have said if they could see this day?" She said with a small smile and a sip of champagne, unaware she probably looked insane to anyone around her, talking to herself.

"My guess? What the hell happened to you all?." Zoey shook her head as she slid up to stand beside Maeve.

For the life of her Zoey couldn't figure out why she actually bothered to show up.Sure, everyone was dressed to the nines and Zoey fit in better with that than she once had. Still, it's not like she hadn't made more than her fair share of enemies in her 7 years inside these walls. It was ridiculous, looking back, but she tried not to lose sleep over it.

Maybe Eddie would show up and she'd be saved from entirely too man awkward encounters. Until then, Maeve would do.

Andy adjusted his trousers as the door to the Room of Requirement swung shut behind him. One can never discount the value of a room that will appear in your moment of greatest need... Especially when that need is coupled with a complete amnesia as to the location of a restroom.

Pressing concerns dealt with, he began to take stock of his surroundings. As usual, the school was impeccably decorated, at least to Andy's tastes. Booze and backless dresses, far as the eye could see.

Strolling towards what seemed like the center of the room, Andy was stopped dead in his tracks by the sight of Zoey and Maeve standing next to each other. Instinct suggested he drop into a crouch, but he managed to avoid doing so.

Alright... there don't seem to be any scratches or bitemarks. Body language is neutral. Safe to approach?

....Fuck it.With the shit-eating-est grin he could muster, Andy snuck up behind the two. Pressing himself in between them, he placed his hands on their hips, and asked, "Excuse me ladies, I could swear that I was here for a ( ... )

Maeve looked up at the voice of her once... well, who knew Zoey was back in school, but she was here now. "I think that sums it up. Plus a lot of more bitchy comments we're more likely to just think now instead of blurt out." She answered in amusement.

Perhaps she would have said more, but there was another piece of history slipping in, and she rolled her eyes, even if she was also smiling. "Then again, maybe we've just all gone back in time. Always with the compliments Andy, you still never got that threesome though."
