There are so many things that I've been avoiding posting about, from my internship (now that I'm a few weeks in) to the Day(s) the Internet Exploded last week, to reactions to new White Collar, Sherlock, etc.

Oh god, I really hope the show turns out okay and isn't just fangirl-bashing. Like you, though, I'm not holding out much hope :(

Everything else is going pretty well. Internship is proceeding apace, and have been told to suit up to actually go to a meeting next week. *meep* meeting clients!

Starting to get all those graduation/bar-prep emails, which are omg scary.

And I keep not submitting my moral character app, but I NEED TO DO THAT THIS WEEEKEND.

And yes, those emails are terrifying. Plus you gotta do all that double-checking of requirements and graduation stuff and bar prep and omg did I fill everything out.

How do you know that "nerdy" and "geeky" translate to being fannish, in the context of the show, though? They could be band geeks or drama nerds or a chess club. I don't get the jump to fandom specifically? '

(I am in one of the groups listed above, and I don't care if people stereotype me over it. Maybe I'm weird!)

Since Rebel (and GOD what a cool name she has) co-wrote the pilot, I don't think it will be disappointing. :)

No one knows for sure, as all that's been released is that it's being made. I'm basing my conclusion partly on gut feeling, partly on how successful BBT is (it beat AI in demo ratings last week, first time ANY show's done that) and on how much fandom awareness is growing in the mind of the general public.

I could be way off in what it's about and my predictions about how it'll portray fandom/fangirls/girl geeks/nerds. I hope I am.

I can't think that any good is going to come from that show. Waaaaaaaayyyyyy too much tv is already crap, and this will just reinforce yet another stereotype-- but this one doesn't have loud dissenters like many others

The fact that we have to do this is a bad sign. Just because we don't fit the "normal woman" mode does not make any of us less valuable.

And yeah, I don't think that show is going to be all that good. We'll just have to see.

There was a lady at the gym yesterday who was just sitting on the machine I wanted to use playing with her iPod, (and she was fat... like seriously fat. She had to have 50+ pounds on me. I mention this because it becomes relevant later.) so I walked up and waited, looking at her like one does when one wants to use the machine they're taking up. The conversation proceeds as follows
