Whether or not someone is better than you is irrelevant, what really matters is how many people are you better than. I know that sounds conceited, but think about it. Shitty pro basketball players make a million dollars a year. Why? Even because the majority of the NBA is better than them, they are still better than 99% of the general population.

Sure, maybe there is a better writer than you, or a bigger geek, but there is still a lot of money, fame, prestige, honor, and joy in being #2. Or even #100 for that matter.

As Tim Allen would say: "Never give up, never surrender".

Something along the lines of "the whoel goal is not the destination, but the journey there" or some cliche liberal shit like that.

The question is, am i happy with what I am doing? Yes? Then you are doing what is good enough for you, and thats doing more than most people can say for themselves.

And believe me, everyone feels the same as you do. Especially overacheivers, who constantly feel worthless to the point where they have to do everything with greatness

you've got the drive which does give you an advantage over 99% of the world. but there's no successful director, writer, or any professional who didn't suck at what they did when they started. successful people learn from their massive failures.
