Question for the Internet world

Hello All,
I'm testing my writing skills by writing in a genre that I hate. I've decided to write a romantic comedy about platonic love between a man and a woman. If anyone out there (male or female) can explain to me the pros/benefits of having a friend of the opposite sex that you would never sleep with it would be most helpful.

Oh Drew! You are totally fixated - the pros and cons are all the same pros and cons as any friendship - not all straight men want to sleep with a woman they become close with!

Yes but I still need to know the pros and cons from another persons perspective.

Pros: for guys, it's a person we can turn to when we need to talk about emotions and stuff. I mean, it's hard enough for us males to open up about our feelings, but doing so to another man makes it near impossible. Girls are good at feelings, so having one to call or grab lunch with when you need to access that part of you is nice. Also nice to get a girl's opinion on things like potential girlfriends, clothes, etc.

Cons: very rarely is there a platonic relationship that is/has been always that way for both parties. At some point one side of it thinks "maybe it could be more" and there will be an awkward blip in the friendship. Also, can cause jealousy between significant others and the parties involved in the friendships.
