ah, I recently read that. I'm not sure if it was ever posted online. I'm pretty sure the name of the zine was The Quality of Mercy. It was a series of stories, and the one you describe was the last story, which started on Valentine's day. I had a zine of the stories, but I sadly threw that one out not too long ago. I'm sorry I can't remember the author's name, but I think it was Mary something...? Maybe this will help someone else remember.

I had no idea this live journal comm existed. Glad I found it.
