I was going to put up a notice for the next meme, unfortunately, the LJ-notification problem, coupled with mod's real-life business kind of prevented that. But since we're so much later than usual, I'm just going to put the post up. I'm sorry I haven't been around to respond to you guys. We should be back on track now!

But, um. GOSH. Thank you! A ton! I'm paranoid about keeping her canon while having her talking to uncanon people and do uncanon things, so that's really nice to hear. XD

Buuuut luckily they all kinda disappeared just as quickly, lol.

I don't just feel this way toward Jo. I feel this way toward all "Trekified" other fandom characters in that community. So... yeah. There are Trek characters that post at SWS all the time. I don't see why non-Trek characters can't interact and carry their verses out with them there, where they're kind of supposed to.

But other than those two in particular, I'm going to have to wholeheartedly agree.

I like to think I'm not pushing it TOO much, putting her in the Trek verse, because she's literally starting at the bottom. I could've thrown her on the Enterprise as a Yeoman or something. Instead she just sneaks on board whenever I'm playing with someone I know won't mind the crack. :D
ALSO CAN I JUST SAY, since it's like 8am and I'm a little loopy, but whatever, that it's called RPing. Role PLAYING. Eets a game. I'm surprised to see people taking it so seriously. XD

But if you're going to use the "it's just a game" line, odds are you shouldn't be on an HMD meme. That's kind of poor taste in a place where you're asking to get feedback. You may not like it and you're free to explain why and make your stance on your characterization clear, but the pretendy funtimes defense is not in effect here. Just because it's a game doesn't mean there aren't things people want you to improve, and as long as their opinion is expressed respectfully, it should be received (and rebuked) respectfully as well. Again, it certainly has its place, but its place is not where you are consciously setting yourself up to receive criticism.
