Concrit Post 12

I was going to put up a notice for the next meme, unfortunately, the LJ-notification problem, coupled with mod's real-life business kind of prevented that. But since we're so much later than usual, I'm just going to put the post up. I'm sorry I haven't been around to respond to you guys. We should be back on track now!

Can I simply say that your Jo is the best Jo I've encountered in the past year at SWS? She is lovely, well-characterized, true to canon and a real joy to play with. S'probably why I stalk your threads. Sorry about that :)

NO PLEASE, STALK AWAY! I loff James to bits, if that's not obvious enough. <33

But, um. GOSH. Thank you! A ton! I'm paranoid about keeping her canon while having her talking to uncanon people and do uncanon things, so that's really nice to hear. XD

You really do a fantastic job. I'm a huge SPN fan, and was really worried about the influx of bad-jos that would invariably show up. But, instead I got to see your lovely Jo. So thanks for being awesome!

Ahahah, I cannot tell you how freaked out I got when like... 6 new Jos showed up the next day after the last episode, I thought I was doomed to take a backburner.

Buuuut luckily they all kinda disappeared just as quickly, lol.

Okay this is not so much to do with you as it is to do with the totally absent mod at TSW but... Jo, or non-Trek characters in a Trek comm makes no sense to me. If I or others want to interact with non-Trek characters, we will go to SWS. That's what it's there for, whereas TSW is there for interacting with Trek characters only.

I don't just feel this way toward Jo. I feel this way toward all "Trekified" other fandom characters in that community. So... yeah. There are Trek characters that post at SWS all the time. I don't see why non-Trek characters can't interact and carry their verses out with them there, where they're kind of supposed to.

Honestly, I'm not sure why other people do it, but the main reason why I made a separate Jo journal to play over at TSW was because a lot of time when she interacted with Trek characters in the regular SWS, it was always just very vague and smalltalky, whereas I wanted to actually put her in the Trek verse. With Trek situations and Trek plot. I wasn't aware that the characters had to be exclusively Trek. Maybe I just took "wildly crazy AU" on the info page too loosely. XD Also, I don't think it's really any different than playing a Trek OC, if we're getting technical. Yes, the character is already established somewhere else, but taking said character and doing a crossover into a new fandom is no different than making one up completely and sticking him or her into the Trek verse. I think ( ... )

Okay, so I'm not Jo's mun, or the mod over at TSW, but I mean I personally don't mind her and Gabriel there, because with her, she did make the separate journal, and with Gabriel, it's Gabriel and Gabriel has pretty much only been interacting with Trek muses, so it makes sense to me for him to be there, considering there isn't as much interaction with Heroes muses.

But other than those two in particular, I'm going to have to wholeheartedly agree.

HEH, not anymore. Because, again, as I've stated 700 times, I'm shameless? And this journal had more icons. BUT I TRIED, really I did. Heh. Everyone knows both Jos are me anyway, so ohwells.

I like to think I'm not pushing it TOO much, putting her in the Trek verse, because she's literally starting at the bottom. I could've thrown her on the Enterprise as a Yeoman or something. Instead she just sneaks on board whenever I'm playing with someone I know won't mind the crack. :D

ALSO CAN I JUST SAY, since it's like 8am and I'm a little loopy, but whatever, that it's called RPing. Role PLAYING. Eets a game. I'm surprised to see people taking it so seriously. XD

It's fair to say that and it is good that you are starting at the bottom, I agree.

But if you're going to use the "it's just a game" line, odds are you shouldn't be on an HMD meme. That's kind of poor taste in a place where you're asking to get feedback. You may not like it and you're free to explain why and make your stance on your characterization clear, but the pretendy funtimes defense is not in effect here. Just because it's a game doesn't mean there aren't things people want you to improve, and as long as their opinion is expressed respectfully, it should be received (and rebuked) respectfully as well. Again, it certainly has its place, but its place is not where you are consciously setting yourself up to receive criticism.
