"So," Ezra said, looking up at Chris. "That's it? I can go back home now and you'll leave me alone?"

Chris smirked and shook his head. Did Ezra really think it was going to be that easy? "You've been a bad boy, Ezra," he said. "We can't just let you walk away."

"Either you work for the Agency or you go to prison for forgery," Will added. He lifted his shoulders and said, "Choice is yours."

Ezra blinked and looked from Chris to Will and then back. Finally, his gaze locked on Devin. "I need to think about this," he said.

"Think about it in a holding cell," Chris said. He was about to grab the little thief, but he was gone. He blinked at the empty place where the man had been just a moment before. "He... teleported?"

"Don't wizards have to use incantations or something?" Will said. His brows were furrowed in confusion. He looked over at Devin, who shrugged and shook his head.

Chris looked over at Morgan. She could teleport people. "Where'd he go?" he asked. His hands clenched into fists. "Damn it, Morgan!"

"He's an innocent, Chris," she said, shrugging. She spun away and headed towards their vehicles. "If he says he has to think about whether or not he wants to join us, who are we to stand in his way?"

"He could just up and vanish," Chris said, his voice cracking. "You think of that?"

"I did," Morgan said. She stopped and glanced over her shoulder at him. "The Underground exploited him for his skill and we've been exploiting him for his knowledge. He deserves the right to choose his own path, Chris."

"Ginny's right, Chris," Devin said, his voice soft. "If he tries to run, you know we can catch him and, for what it's worth, I don't think he will."

Chris bit his lip. He wanted them to be right, but he was worried. It was on his say so that the little thief had been let out of prison in the first place. What if he ran and they couldn't catch him?
