Main Cast (alphabetically by first name)
Apollo Desmond - He was falsely imprisoned in a case of mistaken identity. He has been described by his brother as a crybaby and a wuss. However, he is actually very supportive of Night. He is played by Chris Larabee.

Artemis Desmond - He is believed to be in prison for murdering several Shynian agents, he has actually assumed his twin brother’s life. As Apollo, he is suspected of running all Underground activity in Havelen, but nothing has been proven. He’s very careful and rather cold and enjoys playing with Malcolm and Night. He is also played by Chris Larabee.

Darian Lambert - This is the alias used by Darian Lachlan, also known as Gryphon. He is an agent with Shynian Intelligence and Akira Himori’s partner. While undercover at the Moonlight Lounge, he took on the role of a musician and sang with Night, also playing the piano. He is played by the acclaimed vocalist, Darian Fieldbush.

Kawena Linshala - She is daughter of Kaylen Linshala. She is a nine-year-old enrolled at the Havelen Academy. Her father, a single parent following the death of his wife seven years ago, dotes on her and worries about her safety. She is played by Sorana Openfield.

Laurel Nichols - She is a waitress at the Moonlight Lounge. She seems to have a knack for showing up at inopportune moments. She is played by Holly Brightstar.

Malcolm “Mac” Woodland - This is alias used by Makari Woodrow, also known as Day. He is a native Shynian in his late twenties and already beginning his second career. A former Shynian Agent, he now uses his experience with the Agency and knowledge of human nature as a private investigator. He left the Agency abruptly, angering many of his co-workers and he moved to an elvin community in the north for a fresh start. He is played by Trenton Lark

Night Linshala - This is alias used by Kaylan Linshala after he settled in Havelen. He is the lead singer in the house band, as well as Malcolm’s former partner at the Agency. He left the Agency seven years ago due to disagreements with the management. While he still worked with them, he was a technology and communications expert. It was his idea for Malcolm to come to Havelen. He is played by Len Nichols, in his acting début.

Oliver Saphnola - He is owner of The Moonlight Lounge. He also acts as bartender and rents office and living space to Malcolm. He is played by Celyn Blackwood.

Phoenix - This is alias used by Akira Himori for his work with the Agency. He is the bouncer for the Moonlight Lounge. Although he seems rather flaky, he’s a skilled fighter. He has a nose for trouble and brings clients to the bar to see Malcolm. He is played by Rowan Mitsurugi.

Shoshanna Naerashen - She is landlady for apartments and offices at The Moonlight Lounge. She occasionally acts as a musician in the house band. She is good at getting people to open up and talk to her and occasionally helps Malcolm with his investigations. She is played by Kelly Blackwood.

William Southlake - He is the only human in the Havelen Police Department. He doesn’t particularly care for Malcolm and sees him as interfering with his work. However, their paths often seem to cross and he’s developed a grudging respect for the former agent. He is played by Edwin Hardwick.

Minor Characters (in order of appearance)
Elderly Bar Patron (male) - He appears only once, when Malcolm first arrives at the Moonlight Lounge.

Hyam Hankiel - He is Malcolm’s first client and requested that Malcolm locate his sister, who had disappeared three days before.

Donal Orbsala - He is Hyam Hankiel’s partner and the boyfriend of Diana Hankiel. When he failed to deliver on his promise, the Underground kidnapped her to gain an advantage over him.

Diana Hankiel - The object of Malcolm’s first case was to find her.

Desk Sergeant - He appears only once, when Malcolm first visits the police station.

First Elf Mover - He appears only one time, when Malcolm goes to Diana Hankiel’s apartment.

Second Elf Mover - He was helping the other elf mover and thanked Malcolm for holding the door for them. This is his only appearance.

Selena Sharaban - She hires Malcolm to find out if someone is trying to make her crazy or make her seem crazy, but doing strange things at her home.

Katherine “Kay” Oakes - She is the lead singer of Mirror of Flowers. The group is booked to stand in for Night and Darian on Halloween, so that he can take his daughter trick or treating. (This character is the intellectual property of my sister and is used with permission.)

Alexandria “Alia” Golden - She is the keyboardist and background singer for Mirror of Flowers. (This character is the intellectual property of my sister and is used with permission.)

Rachel Weston - She is the drummer for Mirror of Flowers. (This character is the intellectual property of my sister and is used with permission.)

Sumire “Suma” Takamura - She is the guitarist for Mirror of Flowers. (This character is the intellectual property of my sister and is used with permission.)

Kyoko “Kyo” Ichihara - She is the guitarist for Mirror of Flowers. (This character is the intellectual property of my sister and is used with permission.)

Akeji Takamura - He is a nine year old who acts as a bodyguard for Katherine Oakes and enjoys spending time in the clubs rafters. He may or may not be a ninja. (This character is the intellectual property of my sister and is used with permission.)

Elf maid - She works for Miss Sharaban and lets Malcolm and Night in on the night of their investigation. She claimed not to have seen or heard anything out of the ordinary at the house.

Stephen Sharaban - He is the late husband of Selena Sharaban. He haunts his old home, but presumably goes on to the afterlife following the capture of his murderer.

TV Reporter - She first appears during the scene with Darian’s welcome party, speaking of music pirates and the murder of a missing agent.

Ian Naetan - He first suggested that Selene Sharaban hire Malcolm to figure out who was gaslighting her. It is later discovered that he may have played a part in her husband’s death.

Pythagoras, “Mister Whiskers” - He first appears as the feline companion of Ian Naetan and returns later to steal a roll of film from Malcolm. Malcolm adopts him, but shares him with Night. It is not known if they are meant to be two cats that look similar or one cat. He is played by feline actor, Schrödinger.

Receptionist for Dewey, Chatham and Howl - She appears only once, to give an assignment to Malcolm to inform Carlson Daraba that he was named a beneficiary of Serena Orbaenic’s last will and testament.

Receptionist for Daraba Advertising - He only appears once and tries to help Malcolm catch up with Master Daraba.

Lady at post office - She only appears once and tries to help Malcolm catch up with Master Daraba.

Hostess at the Lonely Grill - She only appears once and tries to help Malcolm catch up with Master Daraba.

Doorman - He appears only one time and prevents Malcolm from entering the social club to meet with Master Daraba, inadvertently allowing him to catch Mister Whiskers and retrieve the roll of film.

Oren Daraba - While Malcolm was attempting to inform his twin brother of his good fortune, he accidentally began following this man.

Carlson Daraba - A person Malcolm was hired to find and inform that he had been named a beneficiary in the last will and testament of Serena Orbaenic.

Waitress - She appears only once, taking a drink order from Oliver at the Copacabana.

Sapphire - Although unnamed in the text, this is the draconic dancer that performs for Phoenix at the Copacabana.

Nekane - A performer at the Copacabana, who works under the stage name of Columbine. She was pursued by and rescued from her former owner. She is a Sun Elf, from the Wynter Isles.

Achen Darksea - He is Nekane’s former owner and is seen twice. First, Malcolm chases him off when he tries to assault Nekane and later he tries to break into Malcolm’s apartment.

911 Operator - She takes the call that Malcolm places to 911 when Nekane’s former owner starts trying to break into his home.

Master Nesbit - He is the owner and president of the Nesbit Toy Company and a skilled Potions Master.

Miss Nicnira - She is the office assistant for Master Senan, president of the Senan Toy Company.

Master Senan - He is the son of the president of Senan Toys and the manager of the Product Research department.

Unnamed Dancer - He works at the Zanzibar as an exotic dancer and waiter.

Corporate Spy - He is an employee of the Nesbit Toy Company and presumably Master Senan’s lover, since they met at the Zanzibar.

Agent “Rook” Linthil - Although initially unnamed, it is later revealed that this is Detective Southlake’s former partner and the mole who told Artemis Desmond where to find both Meluna and Kaylen Linshala.

Director Lachlan - The Director of intelligence operations in the prefecture of Havoran, stationed in the capitol, Havelen.

Master Nicsara - A person being sued by the Orphean Theater for breach of contract and theft of services. Malcolm was hired to deliver paperwork informing him of the suit.

Oak Saenora - He loaned a supposedly priceless urn to a local museum. The urn was insured by the Orphanan Insurance Company and, when it was stolen, Master Nanshela hired Malcolm to figure out if it was a forgery - as the museum claimed - or if they actually had to pay for its loss.

Saenora’s lover - She appears only in the first scene of Malcolm’s stakeout on Saenora’s apartment.

Museum Conservator - In the second scene of Malcolm’s stakeout on Saenora’s apartment, Malcolm sees this man handing over the urn in exchange for a briefcase.

Worried husband - He hires Malcolm to figure out whether or not his wife is cheating, after comments in her journal make him worry.

Faithful wife - Although her husband feared she might be cheating on him, it turns out that she is faithful to her husband.

Business associate - He is the person that Malcolm was hired to watch in his interactions with a worried husband’s spouse.

Detective Lunoren - She was assigned to protect Night and Kawena Linshala when they were being threatened by Artemis Desmond. She is the partner of William Southlake and may also be with Shynian Intelligence.

Officer Reed - Although he never actually appears, his voice can be heard over William Southlake’s radio informing him that an abandoned vehicle had been located.

Prison Guard - He escorts Night and Phoenix to the visiting area and then listens as they speak with Apollo Desmond. Although he doesn’t react when they cease to speak Faerie, it is assumed that he didn’t speak Shynian.
